00:10♪♪
00:20♪♪
00:25You're a Jedi.
00:27♪♪
00:34Here's the thing, but you have to play kids in that world
00:38and how they see that world.
00:40Can you talk about that?
00:41Because it has to seem normal to you,
00:43and yet the extremes seem even more normal at times.
00:47Could you talk about playing that from each of your perspectives,
00:50from obviously Ravi, if you could, and then Ryan?
00:53Yeah, so what was so fun was it was led through the eyes of children,
00:57which is a completely new perspective.
00:59We brought a wide-eyed wonder to the set almost,
01:02and it was a lot of fun, and it is a new concept.
01:05And playing into that new fun aspect was a little bit intimidating
01:13leading a Star Wars series and carrying on the legacy,
01:15but it definitely got very comfortable instantly.
01:19And yeah, it is a completely new concept that Jon and Chris,
01:23the showrunners, established, and it was a lot of fun
01:26kind of building it, building off of it,
01:29and they gave us so much creative freedom
01:31to kind of build our characters a little bit more
01:34and strengthen those relationships, but it was a lot of fun.
01:39♪♪
01:46Tomorrow's test will set the course of your entire future.
01:52♪♪
01:56Don't you ever want to do anything exciting?
01:59Like what?
02:01What if we could go anywhere we want in the whole galaxy?
02:06A real adventure. No more pretend.
02:10I found something buried in the woods.
02:12♪♪
02:14What do you think it is?
02:16♪♪
02:19I think it's a lost Jedi temple.
02:21♪♪
02:24Hello?
02:27Be careful where you step.
02:29And we were kind of talking about our reactions in the story
02:32and how normal it was.
02:34Like we kind of shot in sequence and in order,
02:37so it was almost like we were living in real time,
02:41and a lot of things were kind of kept secret,
02:43so we had like our honest reactions on the day.
02:47So it was really fun.
02:48Like I felt like I was going along the adventure
02:50with Vernon and all the characters.
02:52Yeah, and it's like just kids in that exaggerated,
02:55you know, Star Wars universe.
02:56It's like we're real kids with real Earth world,
03:00real world qualities.
03:02Hey, droid.
03:03What do you want?
03:05What's your name?
03:06There are some who call me SM33.
03:11Well, SM33, I have some bad news.
03:17I killed your captain.
03:19Most unlikely.
03:21You seem ill-favored for combat.
03:24But it's true.
03:25I stabbed him right in the guts and threw him into space,
03:29which makes me your new captain.
03:34Right?
03:37What am I to do with these stowaways?
03:48Captain.
03:50Hey, no fair.
03:51I wanted to be the captain.
03:53As crew, you may challenge the captain to a battle to the death.
03:56No, that's okay.
04:00Now, SM33.
04:04Show me how to fly my ship.
04:06But they have very unique identities, both of your characters.
04:09They're so much, you know, Fern, the way she approaches things.
04:13Wim, the way you approach things and question things.
04:15And, you know, are you a Jedi?
04:17Are you not?
04:18There's that curiosity.
04:19Can you talk about what each of you sort of glommed onto
04:22or, you know, held onto as far as what the truth
04:25of these characters were for you each?
04:28Yeah, Wim definitely felt so, so truthful to me.
04:32And there's so many things that you learn on a film set,
04:36things that you take away from in real life
04:39and from your characters and the circumstances in the scenes.
04:42So, yeah, there's a lot of things that we took away,
04:45and it was a huge learning experience.
04:47Seven months playing a completely new character
04:50in brand-new shoes with, you know, new circumstances.
04:53And, yeah.
04:54Yeah, I mean, it was seven months.
04:56And I was kind of in this weird place in my life,
05:00and I was finding who I was,
05:01and I think Fern was in the same situation.
05:05So throughout the story,
05:06I was kind of finding myself through Fern,
05:08which is really important.
05:10And, yeah, you kind of see that arc throughout the show,
05:13which is really exciting.
05:15Ready to kiss this rock goodbye?
05:17Depends where we're going.
05:19I have an old friend in mind.
05:25She's an expert on star maps, lost planets,
05:28that kind of thing.
05:29She'll find your home.
05:30What about SM33?
05:31What about what?
05:32Our droid.
05:33He knows how to operate and repair the ship.
05:36We'll be fine without him.
05:38He saved us.
05:40Yeah, we need him.
05:41We're not going back for a droid.
05:42I thought the Jedi never left a man behind.
05:44That's not...
05:47First, it's a droid.
05:49Second, that's not a Jedi thing the Jedi say.
05:54If you don't go, I will.
05:56And me.
05:57And me.
05:58We'll go together.
05:59You try that.
06:00You'll be recaptured and back in the brig before you can say parsec.
06:03But you can do it, right?
06:05You can do anything.
06:06Yeah.
06:07You're a Jedi, right?
06:11Of course.
06:13And my last question to both of you, thank you very much,
06:16is, you know, but it's how you interact with the other people in the scene,
06:19the way you two interact, the way you interact with Jude,
06:22interacting with the robots, interacting with your other friends,
06:24interacting with the pirates.
06:26How would you talk about that and the energy,
06:28bringing that energy to Star Wars, you know, for you guys?
06:32Because it's an adventure.
06:33It's like, you know, the new Goonies for the new generation.
06:37That's you guys.
06:38That's awesome.
06:39It's so exciting.
06:40I mean, this is truly such an honor.
06:43You know,
06:44I just love the concept initially and having Star Wars in the eyes of
06:48children was just such an exciting world to visit and to explore.
06:54And I could not have done it with better people.
06:55Do you mind me asking?
06:56Sorry.
06:57When you heard about it, what was?
06:58When I heard about it, it was, they phrased it as Goonies in space.
07:01I know it was very secretive.
07:03So we didn't get to know much about it until we were like officially joined.
07:07Yeah.
07:08But yeah, sorry.
07:09I don't think we even knew that it was Star Wars for a while because Goonies
07:13in space kind of would have given it away.
07:15But I think it was called like untitled something, something, something.
07:18So yeah, it was very secretive and we all had different codenames.
07:21Like I was Wyatt.
07:22And yeah, dummy sides.
07:24They weren't actually.
07:25Yeah.
07:26They were just like weird names.
07:27Yeah.
07:28It didn't really make sense.
07:29Yeah.
07:30Like, yeah.
07:31This is actually kind of part of the script, but like not really.
07:33Like it was,
07:34it was one of my audition scenes was me and Neil who was called Ned before
07:38like Spider-Man.
07:39We were at a bus stop talking about it.
07:42Yeah.
07:43Yeah.
07:44Yeah.
07:45And I was like, and that's when I said,
07:46don't you ever want to do anything exciting?
07:47A real adventure.
07:48That was that whole part.
07:49Yeah.
07:50Yeah.
07:51So yeah.
07:52Very different.
07:53Yeah.
07:54There's so much like keywords.
07:55Yeah.
07:56Like, oh, grab the lightsaber.
07:57Or like Jedi temple.
07:58It was like lost treasure or something like that.
07:59Yeah.
08:00Wow.
08:01We're lost.
08:02Really lost.
08:03It is dangerous out there in space.
08:04Trust me.
08:05It is.
08:06It is.
08:07It is.
08:08It is.
08:09It is.
08:10It is.
08:11It is.
08:12It is.
08:13It is.
08:14It is.
08:15It is.
08:16It is.
08:17It is.
08:18It is.
08:19It is.
08:20It is.
08:21It is.
08:22Trust no one.
