00:00On the fourth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me Zac Efron in a wrestling week.

00:04Ever since I was a child, people said my family was cursed.

00:10Mom tried to protect us with God.

00:13Pop tried to protect us with wrestling.

00:15He said if we were the toughest, the strongest, nothing could ever hurt us.

00:19The Iron Claw blew me away, and I'm pretty certain it will blow you away too.

00:24Directed by Sean Durkin, who's actually fast becoming one of my favourite directors.

00:28He did Martha Martin Maymar Lee.

00:30He did The Nest a few years ago with Carrie Coon and Jude Law.

00:33And he's knocked it out of the park yet again with The Iron Claw,

00:36which is a family drama about a group of wrestlers, wrestling brothers.

00:41You've got Holt McCallion and Moratini as the matriarch and patriarch of this family.

00:46Their life was plagued with disaster.

00:48I mean, this is not a joyous Christmas film, I need to warn you.

00:52But this is probably one of, it's in the top five,

00:55definitely in the top five films of the year for me.

00:57It's got heart.

00:59It feels like an old-fashioned Martin Scorsese drama,

01:02something he would have released in the 90s.

01:05And I think, I know it's reductive to say,

01:07should have been nominated for an Oscar,

01:08but if Zac Efron was ever going to be nominated for an Oscar, it would be for this.

01:12He broke my heart.

01:14It's also a performance from Jeremy Allen White,

01:16who we know as Kami from The Bear.

01:18And he's way less annoying in this film.

01:21So yeah, that's another reason to watch it.

01:22The film is available to rent on Prime Video, and it's worth every penny.
