Russia is vowing to respond to the assassination of one of its top generals, Igor Kirillov, in a bombing in Moscow. Ukraine's spy agency has claimed responsibility for the killing.

00:10The blast occurring outside a residential apartment building,
00:13just a few blocks away from the Kremlin.

01:07Russian investigators say a bomb was planted inside a scooter
01:10and detonated remotely as Kurilov exited the building.
01:22As investigators attempt to get a clear picture of how this attack unfolded,
01:26what's become evident is that the brazen killing has undermined
01:29Russia's ability to project itself as unassailable.
01:33There was no security at the apartment,
01:35and Kurilov has become the most senior military officer
01:38to be killed inside Russia by Ukraine.
01:44Labelling it an act of terror, the Kremlin is vowing retaliation for his death.

02:05The assassination is not expected to change the course of Russia's
02:08almost three-year invasion of Ukraine.
02:12But as Kiev demonstrates it can reach inside Moscow
