Mince Pie ice cream review

00:00I am always here for a gimmick and so when I spotted this Mince Pie Ice Cream by Luxury

00:14Lakes Ice Cream, it's made in Kendal, I couldn't resist. I do like some of their other products

00:21that are widely available. I got this from Booths, it was £4.50 but what intrigued me

00:28obviously was the flavour, so Mince Pie Ice Cream. I've only ever seen that once before

00:34and that was on Blackburn Market years ago, probably more than 10 years ago, I remember

00:41an independent store selling it. So I thought, why not, let's give it a go. So yeah, I'm

00:47going to open it and let you see and then I'm going to try it and let you know whether

00:52it's any good. So I've just taken the lid off there and that's what it looks like.

00:58So, oh it's quite soft, it's a soft scoop, okay. And we can see there that there's evidence

01:06of bits of what looks like pastry and raisin. So yeah, it looks like someone's just smashed

01:13up a Mince Pie into some vanilla ice cream but I'll serve it up into the bowl and I'll

01:19let you know. I've got my bowl with my ice cream in it. Doesn't smell too much of anything.

01:28On the box it says it's dairy ice cream swirled with spiced dried fruits and biscuit crumb.

01:35So let's go.

01:41Straight away, yeah, absolutely love it. I'm not easily impressed by many things but in

01:49the first mouthful, that is an absolute winner.

01:58So it's soft scoop and in my opinion you can get some really quite naff, nasty soft scoop

02:07ice creams out there on the market. This is not one of them. Those ones that I'm referring

02:12to generally have some really artificial flavours and taste like chemicals and it's a very foamy,

02:19unnatural kind of soft scoop. This isn't. This is delicious. This tastes like really,

02:28really high quality. There's bits of biscuit in it that are like the pastry, the raisins

02:35are there, chewy. You've got the spices of the fruit that you would get in a traditional

02:41mince pie. It's absolutely amazing without being too overpowering, too gritty, too much.

02:49I'm absolutely staggered because yes, I like a gimmick. Yes, I like a mince pie. This is

02:55better than mince pies. If you like mince pies, this is mince pie on another level.

02:59You've got to go and get this while you can. I assume it's limited edition because it is

03:06a Christmas flavour. £4.50 from Boo's, that's where I got it from. You're not going to get

03:12a better ice cream this year. Well, I know we haven't got much left of the year. You're

03:16not going to get a better ice cream this Christmas. There you go.
