00:00President Bongbong Marcos ordered the Justice Department to recommend the House Quad Committee
00:07to file a complaint of crimes against humanity against former President Rodrigo Duterte and other personalities.
00:15Duterte has not yet given his consent, but Senator Bong Go is curious about the involvement in the complaint
00:22while Senator Bato de la Rosa sees the motive as a demolition job.
00:28Salima Refran is on the scene.
00:33President Bongbong Marcos is already here.
00:36The ball is now in the Department of Justice to discuss the recommendation of the House Quad Committee report
00:41to face crimes against humanity against former President Rodrigo Duterte,
00:46Senator Bong Go, Senator Ronald Bato de la Rosa,
00:49several former PNP chiefs, and other personalities associated with the drug war.
00:53The DOJ will look at it and see if it is time to file cases, what cases to file,
01:02how to produce the evidence that we will need to actually build a case.
01:08We need to assess what might be the case,
01:13if the direction of the recommendation of the committees from the House is correct.
01:23Although the official report of the House has not yet been accepted,
01:26the DOJ will consolidate it in the ongoing investigation of the Task Force EJK of the government.
01:33The DOJ will also invite those who faced the Quad Committee
01:37to make their affidavit of their statements to the House formal,
01:41and Duterte might be included in it.
01:44We will look into that possibility.
01:46But as of now, there are already admissions on record made by the former President
01:52and that is evidence that is admissible because these are all under oath and in a public proceeding.
01:59The DOJ clarifies that even the former President can face a complaint.
02:04Past presidents are no longer immune from suits.
02:07Only the sitting president is immune from any legal suit during his term.
02:12The former President Duterte is also receiving GMA Integrated News.
02:17However, Senator Gou, who became the Special Assistant to the President,
02:20was only allowed to file a complaint against him in court.
02:24Gou claims that everything mentioned in the hearings,
02:28even the hearsay and no evidence, was used by the Quad Committee in the complaint.
02:33Dela Rosa, who became Duterte's first PNP chief,
02:37said that she already expected this and will only face the complaint when it is submitted to the DOJ.
02:43It is said that everything is being done to demolish Duterte and his allies,
02:48especially Senator Gou, for the election of 2025.
02:52The DOJ is still studying the effect of the case build-up in the ongoing investigation of the ICC.
02:58GMA Integrated News is also working hard to get the statement of other recommended cases of the House Quad Committee.
