00:00Who are the future music stars of the Delaware Valley? It's B101's Christmas Choir Competition.
00:06Well good morning and happy holidays everybody. We are so excited because we have a little
00:14mini concert coming up for you here on B101. So we have the winners of the high school division
00:20of our Christmas Choir Competition, which was powered by Verizon this year, right here in
00:25studio Potts Grove High School from Pottstown. They came all the way from Pottstown this
00:31morning, a little field trip, I guess, you know, before school. Thank you for being here.
00:39We are so proud to have you here and you're going to sing for everyone listening this morning your
00:43winning song, O Come O Come Emmanuel. Before you do that, we want to talk quickly with your choir
00:48director, Amy McMahon, kind of paint the picture for everyone. So how many kids are in this choir?
00:54We have 13 members in our select chamber choir. 13. Now $5,000 for your school's music program you
01:01guys won. We all we all know that these programs are underfunded. What are you going to do with
01:06all that money? Well we had mentioned getting a piano because the one we have is pretty old.
01:11So that's still on the table. We talked about maybe some sound recording, but I did promise
01:15them a pizza party. So $5,000 might get us a lot of pizza. I think they'll get a slice or two.
01:22You are the best. That's awesome. Well, they deserve that and more. Okay, we want to talk to,
01:26I believe, out of the 13 in the choir, there are three seniors. Do you guys mind coming over here
01:31real quick? We have Emily and we have Savannah and we have Ethan. Savannah, you're up first. So
01:40what does it mean to you to be in this particular choir? I see this choir as like a family. They're
01:46more than my friends. They're always super supportive and here for me whenever. That's
01:50awesome. And Emily, you're a senior. I'm just wondering when you leave Potts Grove High School,
01:56do you have future plans for music in the arts? What are you plan on doing in the fall?
02:01Absolutely. Even though I want to pursue a career to be a doctor, I'm never leaving music. I want
02:06to minor in music and keep it in my life forever. That's awesome. That's great. Let's talk to Ethan.
02:11Ethan and everyone's going to be at the Wells Fargo Center right before the TSO show performing
02:17live at the Wells Fargo Center. How excited are you? I mean, I think it's just such a once-in-a-lifetime
02:21opportunity to be able to say, you know, moving forward in our futures that this was something
02:25that we got to experience. It's something that we will, I think, all never forget. So we are so
02:30excited. Great. It's a good nervous. You know, it's exciting. Oh yeah. And aren't you glad to be doing
02:34this together, all of you? Yeah, and you're here now. All right. Well, without further ado, we would love
02:39for you to sing your winning song, O Come, O Come, Emmanuel. I mean, there's nothing like live music.
02:46There are only 13 kids up on our stage here. The sound that you 13 make absolutely beautiful.
02:55Congratulations on winning. All right, guys, take us out. What message would you like to
03:01send to the Delaware Valley right now? Happy Holidays!
