00:00If you're wondering, are you going to see a white Christmas?
00:02Well, here's our brand new AccuWeather exclusive outlook here
00:06for the probability of a white Christmas in 2024.
00:09Now, when we say white Christmas, we mean an inch of snow
00:12on the ground on Christmas morning.
00:14So here's the overall setup and the way the forecast
00:16is going to shake out the probability.
00:18If you want to see a white Christmas,
00:20you either have to go north or the you have to go to higher elevation
00:23because here's the setup.
00:24We're going to see a pretty good chance of a white Christmas
00:27here across the Northern Plains, the Great Lakes and into the Northeast.
00:30And we're also going to see a really good chance of a white Christmas
00:32here across the Rockies and the Northwest Cascades
00:36and the Sierra Mountain Ranges.
00:37So that's where it looks like
00:38we're going to see the highest probability of a white Christmas.
00:41Even across the high plains, we'll see a low chance, not zero,
00:44but a low chance there of a white Christmas there as we head into Wednesday.
00:48Here's the setup for Christmas Eve.
00:49It's primarily going to be about rain and storms here
00:52across the Southern Plains into the Mid-South, but we will see
00:54some ongoing snowfall here across the Northeast with some showers
00:58and then the snowfall across the Northwest.
01:00Temperature wise here for Christmas Eve, very mild.
01:02We'll even see some 70s across southern Texas
01:05and we'll see some freezing temperatures across the Northern Plains.
01:08But as we head into the big day, Christmas Day, here's the updated look.
01:11We'll see some storms here across the Gulf Coast.
01:14We'll see some rainfall extending across the Mississippi into the Ohio Valley.
01:18And yes, we'll see some lingering snowfall across the Northeast.
01:21But overall, the snow will start to taper off.
01:23But the one thing I want to point out here for Christmas Day,
01:25this could be tracking as a record-breaking Christmas for warmth for some areas.
01:30In fact, as you look at the highs for Christmas Day,
01:32it is going to be difficult to find an area that has highs below freezing here.
01:37It's going to be a very mild Christmas Day here forecast for us.
01:39That's why it's not looking like a good chance of snowfall here
01:42across at least the lower 48.
01:44Stay right here with AccuWeather ahead.
01:45We'll have more updates coming up right after this.
