00:00At least two people have been killed and 60 others injured after a car drove into a crowd
00:07at a busy outdoor Christmas market in the eastern German city of Magdeburg.
00:11Authorities are calling it a deliberate attack.
00:14The two people confirmed dead are an adult and a child, but officials say the death toll
00:19could rise as 15 people were seriously injured.
00:23The driver was arrested at the scene shortly after the car barreled into the market at
00:27around 7 p.m. local time when it was teeming with holiday shoppers.
00:32Local officials said the suspect is a 50-year-old Saudi doctor who moved to Germany in 2006.
00:38They also say they believe the suspect was working alone and that there is no further
00:43danger to the city.
00:45German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Minister of the Interior Nancy Faeser will be visiting
00:50the city just 150 kilometers outside of Berlin on Saturday to pay their condolences.

01:27A court in Sicily has found Italy's Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini not guilty of
01:32kidnap for detaining 100 migrants aboard a humanitarian rescue ship in 2019.
01:38The open arms NGO vessel was carrying 147 migrants from the Libyan coast when Salvini
01:44prevented it from docking on the Italian island of Lampedusa.
01:48It remained at sea for almost three weeks with the NGO reporting the delay led to medical
01:53emergencies.
01:54Speaking outside the court, Salvini said defending the homeland is not a crime but a right.

02:51The UN agency for Palestinian refugees has said the decision by the Swedish government
02:59to end core support is disappointing.

03:55A new solar panel roof has been inaugurated at the Vatican to provide renewable energy
