00:00Leaders from Northern and Southern Europe have arrived in Lapland in Finland for the
00:05North-South summit on European security.
00:11The main focus of the summit is defence and preparedness, including Baltic Sea security
00:16in the wake of the damage caused to various undersea cables in November.
00:21While commenting on the cables, Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristonsson refrained from speculating
00:27on whether the damage was due to an accident or sabotage, but said his government is deeply
00:32concerned.
00:36The issue of migration and border security is also being discussed at the summit, with
00:41Finnish Prime Minister Pateri Orpo claiming that the leaders in attendance have expressed
00:46support for his country's controversial deportation bill.
00:52The law, which is currently under review by the European Commission, would allow Finland
00:57to turn away asylum seekers at its eastern border with Russia.
01:02It has received intense backlash from human rights groups, who say it violates international
01:07law.
