00:00Five people have now died after a car ploughed into a busy Christmas market in eastern Germany
00:11on Friday evening. Among the dead is a nine-year-old child. A further 200 people were injured,
00:1841 of them critically.
00:20Speaking at the scene in Magdeburg on Saturday, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz vowed to use
00:25the full strength of the law against the perpetrator.
00:29Police have arrested a 50-year-old Saudi doctor identified by local media as Talib A, who
00:35lived in Germany since 2006. And he's reportedly sympathised with Germany's far-right Alternative
00:42for Germany party.
00:44The attack has sparked global condemnation from world leaders, including UK Prime Minister
