00:02let's take a look at a family in Pampanga
00:04that has been making lanterns for generations.
00:08Here's the latest news from Floyd Brentz.
00:13This is the Giant Lantern Festival in the city of San Fernando, Pampanga.
00:17The beautiful lanterns here are made by lantern makers
00:22that are part of the families that have been making these for generations.
00:26For Edmar David, a lantern maker from the village of San Nicolás,
00:30he owes his father his skills in making giant lanterns.
00:35David's beautiful lanterns were recognized as the best lanterns in the festival this year.
00:40I dedicate this champion to him because when he was making it,
00:45he was teaching me.
00:46Now, I'm just giving back to him what I learned from him.
00:50Now, we became champions.
00:52David's promise is that he will continue to pass on to the new generations
00:55the Giant Lantern Making Tradition.
00:58Of course, we teach the kids in our village
01:03so that at least, at the same time, they can work and learn.
01:09The Giant Lanterns Exhibition will continue until January 1
01:14only here in the Christmas Capital of the Philippines.
