As 2024 nears its end, Moscow troops continue to make steady progress across the eastern Ukrainian region of Donetsk, moving in on the towns of Pokrovsk and appearing to be closing in on Kurakhove further south.

00:15A few days ago, Russian Defense Ministry announced the capture of Trudovo and Uspenivka, completing
00:21the occupation of the final segment of the so-called Uspenivka pocket, the area around
00:27these settlements south of Kurakhovo.
00:31The Khortytsia group of forces issued a statement saying that Ukrainian forces withdrew from
00:35this area after heavy defensive battles.
00:39Ukrainian monitoring group Deep State claimed earlier that some troops did not manage to
00:43pull back after Russia captured the two settlements.
00:46The sector lies roughly 8 km south of the battle-front line town of Kurakhovo.
00:51Now, according to Deep State, Russia is regrouping in the newly captured area and attacking in
00:57the direction of Shevchenko-Andriyevka section, threatening to create a new pocket.
01:02Russian forces are now focusing their efforts on the nearby town of Andriyevka.
