00:16Tyneside residents are able to travel around their local area and the wider region. Businesses also
00:21need to be able to operate efficiently and profitably for us to be able to achieve both
00:24our business growth targets and inward investment goals. She also went on to say that the fact of
00:28the matter is our region lags years behind other regions in England in the transport
00:32infrastructure changes that are necessary to facilitate this. Nexus say that there is a strong
00:38possibility that the public transport operator would soon be unable to sustain services south
00:42of the River Tyne as trains are unable to return to their maintenance depot. A spokesperson from
00:46the North East Combined Authority said the upkeep of the Gateshead flyover is the responsibility of
00:50Gateshead Council but the combined authority and the mayor have been active in offering support
00:55to the council as it seeks both an immediate fix and a long-term solution.
