00:14you PTV News Now on this truly auspicious day. It was a requirement that shouldn't have

00:21been put on the elderly just to avail of a 20% discount on their medicines. Still, this

00:26way past due move by Health Secretary Dr. Ted Herbosa was a welcome gesture on his part

00:33to assuage the misgivings and persistent complaints of the senior citizen sector who are denied

00:38their discounts for not bringing in their booklets, which everyone agrees is such a

00:42hassle and should never have been certain in the text of the law. Senator Ramon Bongravilla

00:48Jr. hailed the move, citing it as a welcome act and one huge and less worry for entitled

00:54seniors. Meanwhile, colleague Senator Lauren Legarda echoed his statement, saying this

00:59is a boost for the sector to avail the full benefits of the law. For his part, Senator

01:04Aquilino Coco Pimentel III said this truly is a timely Christmas gift for the country's

01:109.2 million seniors. Likewise, he urged the nation to stand behind and back up the DOHS

01:16move that assures the elderly can have full access to their medical needs.

01:20And in news overseas, with barely three weeks left till he officially returns to the Oval

01:27Office and to power as the leader of the free world, President-elect Donald J. Trump has

01:33renewed his wish to put Greenland under U.S. control and ownership. In addition, he seeks

01:39control and management of the Panama Canal. He reverted back to the United States after

01:44noticing how China has cozied up to the Panamanian government over the last years. VOA's White

01:49House correspondent Patsy Wittekuswara tells us more.

01:54Greenland, the ice-covered, semi-autonomous Danish territory, is again in President-elect

02:01Donald Trump's crosshairs. As he named his ambassador to Denmark on Sunday, Trump wrote

02:07that, quote, for purposes of national security and freedom throughout the world, the United

02:11States of America feels the ownership and control of Greenland is an absolute necessity.

02:18Trump also suggested Sunday he would retake control of the Panama Canal. He called the

02:22rate's Panama charges to use the vital shipping route a, quote, complete rip-off.

02:27If the principles, both moral and legal, of this magnanimous gesture of giving are not

02:34followed, then we will demand that the Panama Canal be returned to the United States of

02:39America in full, quickly and without question.

02:46Every square meter of the canal will continue to belong to Panama, said the country's President

02:51Jose Raul Molino, rejecting Trump's allegations of overcharging.

02:58Rates are not a whim. They are established publicly, in an open hearing, considering

03:03market conditions, international competition, operating costs and the needs of maintenance

03:10and modernization of the inter-oceanic waterway.

03:13Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen also pushed back, saying Greenland is not for sale.

03:19Trump's initial calls to purchase Greenland in 2019 during his first term came to nothing.

03:25But his statements now, as he prepares to take the oath of office on January 20th, are

03:29making some allies and partners wary.

03:32That includes Canada. Trump has referred to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau as, quote, the

03:37governor, suggesting the U.S. can absorb its northern neighbor, as he threatened 25 percent

03:43tariffs against the country.

03:45Trump's end goal is unclear. But on Monday, his son Eric Trump posted to social media

03:50a doctored photo of the President-elect purchasing Canada, Greenland and the Panama Canal via

03:56Amazon, the online shopping website.

05:25According to the RA-7183 Wind of Firecracker Law, there is a parity in the number of people

05:31who have been shot.

05:33The city of Baguio has a parity in the number of people who have been shot.

05:36The firecrackers are illegal.

05:38The number of people who have been shot has been determined by the City Ordinance No.

05:4253, Series of 2009.

05:45The Baguio City Police Office has informed the public that there is a total ban on firecrackers

05:56here in Baguio.

05:57So, with that, we have confiscated and also there are who surrendered firecrackers.
