00:00In Hawaii, one of the world's most active volcanoes sprang into life again, spewing
00:06columns of lava 80 meters above the island.
00:09Images showed enormous fissures in the caldera of Kilauea on Hawaii's big island, spraying
00:16jets of molten rock into the air.
00:19The Hawaiian Volcano Observatory, HVO, said the eruption began just after 2 a.m. local
00:25time in the southwestern section of the caldera.
00:29In this sense, the eruption is occurring within a closed area of Hawaii Volcanoes National
00:34Park, and lava flows are currently confined to the Halema'uma'u on the eastern part
00:41of Kilauea's caldera.
00:43On the other hand, the HVO warned that sulfur dioxide emanating from the fissure could react
00:49with other gases in the atmosphere, which can affect people, animals and crops in the
00:55surrounding areas.
