00:16But he was not safe.

00:22As soon as the news of Manmohan Singh's journey was released,
00:25the political figures revealed themselves one by one.
00:29Manmohan Singh's journey began on Friday morning.

00:55Haryana's Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini and many more.
00:59What did they say about Manmohan Singh's journey?
01:03The news of the death of the former Prime Minister Sargi Manmohan Singh is a sad news for everyone.
01:13We pray to God that God gives him a place in his feet.
01:19And may God give strength to all his family and friends in this sad moment.
01:27Dr. Manmohan Singh's passing is the end of an era.
01:32Manmohan Singh Ji in his life, the contributions he made,
01:36policy making, economic growth, to being the Governor of the RBI,
01:40to be a Finance Minister, to be the Prime Minister.
01:43He led from the front. He will be remembered for his honesty and humility.
01:48As a person who was someone who had friends across parties.
01:55And I think in all his life, he kept India first, his nation first.
02:01He was a true son of India and we all miss him today.
02:04For his gentle demeanor, easy to talk to, I had the great privilege of working in his Cabinet.
02:10And it was an honor to be a part of his Cabinet, to be his team.
02:14He has always been a very kind soul, a gentle soul.
02:18But the initiation in 1991, when he opened up the economy,
02:24he was instrumental in getting the Indo-US civil nuclear deal, which put India on the map.
02:29There are many, many contributions and I think his story is yet to be told.
02:32But he had a full life. My condolences to him, his family, his supporters and his admirers in India and across the world.
02:40With the demise of Dr. Manmohan Singh, the country has lost not only a skilled politician,
02:45but also a person dedicated to serving the country and a skilled economist.
02:52From a small village in Punjab, India's journey of becoming an economist and Prime Minister
03:01shows his dedication and service to the country.
03:05Dr. Manmohan Singh will always be remembered for his simplicity and wisdom.
03:11His contribution to the country's economic development will always be remembered.
03:18I pray to God that he will give peace to the devout soul
03:24and take care of his family and loved ones in this difficult time.
03:29Dr. Manmohan Singh was not among us today. He was a very capable person.
03:38He was the Governor of the RBI, then he was the Vice-Minister of the country,
03:43and then he was the Prime Minister of the country.
03:45And he was a very big economist. He was a very honest man.
03:49When I got the opportunity, when he was the Vice-Minister, I was an MP.
03:54The economic reforms and liberalization came with the Prime Minister.
04:01The sad demise of Dr. Manmohan Singh is a great loss to the entire nation.
04:18When the Indian economy was in shambles,
04:24Shri Narasimha Rao invited him to join his ministry as Finance Minister.
04:31Many people wondered how this man will salvage the mess created by the previous government.
04:40But within a few months, it has changed the whole economy.
04:45The economy again started flourishing.
04:48She totally stopped the License and Quota Raj that was prevailing many years in India.
05:05Dr. Manmohan Singh, deeply saddened to know about his demise.
05:12I have spent almost a year and a half with Dr. Manmohan Singh's life.
05:23Studying him, his character, his mannerisms.
05:30When an actor plays a role, he studies his physical aspect.
05:38But to portray a character truthfully, you have to go inside the person.
05:48Dr. Manmohan Singh was inherently a good man.
05:53Gentle, bright, brilliant, kind.
05:59And if you see Accidental Prime Minister now,
06:02you will discover that I could, to some extent, imbibe all those qualities.
06:10When I was offered this film, I refused it for various reasons.
06:17For political reasons also.
06:21I thought I would do this role.
06:23People would say that maybe I have done this film to make fun of them.
06:29Which some usual suspects have said.
06:33But if I have to choose 3 or 4 characters of my life,
06:38which I feel I have done very truthfully,
06:41then Accidental Prime Minister will be one of the films.
06:45He was a very, very, very wonderful person.
06:56I am looking for words because people these days look for interpretations in words.
07:03They look for a word where you hold A and say it.
07:09I am deeply saddened by his demise because I felt that I spent time with somebody.
07:15I met him at one or two events.
07:18He was very kind to me and very generous to me.
