00:00We are talking all things Thursday night football and the big takeaways from what we saw out
00:08there last night in Chicago was the Seahawks prevailing, wait for this one, six to three
00:14over the Bears, a scoreless second half.
00:17The rain continued to drive in there at Soldier Field, but for the Seahawks with their season,
00:22with their playoff hopes being out of their hands, Joe, they at least did what they could
00:26control and that was getting a tough victory.
00:32That's being nice, Dubs.
00:33This was a Thursday night football game the NFL gave us that included three field goals
00:39and 13 punts.
00:40If you're a fan of punting, I got to tell you, this game last night was riveting.
00:44It was over the top good.
00:47If you're not a fan of punts, this game was awful on so many different levels.
00:51I can't even begin to tell you, yes, it was raining, but both offenses were about as inept
00:58as there can be.
01:00Now you expect that from the Bears, but Seattle has, and Geno, ironically enough, have always
01:06been better on the road.
01:08I think they just, with this win last night, I think they're six and one on the road this
01:12year.
01:13Geno has a harder time playing at home with the 12th man, which is so bonkers to me, but
01:18they are better on the road, and ultimately, it was a must-win spot for the Seahawks, and
01:25they won the game.
01:26Really, that's all that matters, but this was a 6-3 game at the break.
01:29It was raining sideways, yes, but it came out in the second half, and outside of really,
01:35I believe that Bears' final possession, Dubs, in which, of course, Caleb Williams finished
01:40it off with an interception, that was it.
01:43It was played between, it felt like, the 30-yard lines.
01:46Nobody got really much closer than that in that second half, so not a great showing,
01:53but again, desperation for Seattle.
01:56It felt like they knew their season was on the line, that defense showed up last night,
02:00and now they don't, unfortunately, hold the keys to their future.
02:05They need Arizona to beat the Rams for them to have a, continue to have a shot going into
02:11Week 18 to make the playoffs.
02:13Yeah, taking a look at the NFC West, Rams still sitting up top there with the 9 wins
02:18now alongside the Seahawks, so they'd really love to see the Cardinals get that big result,
02:23and you highlighted, Joe, if you look at the box scores, the stat sheet, there's really
02:28no standout.
02:29It was a pretty middling passing game.
02:32The run game really never got going.
02:34Ken Walker didn't even, he wasn't a go for Seattle, so we saw Zach Charbonneau, he got
02:38the 15 carries of the Rock with 57 rushing yards, but let's keep with Caleb Williams,
02:44King Caleb Williams.
02:45There was so much expectation coming into this season, not only for the Bears, but for
02:50the star young quarterback who really wasn't great in his final year at USC.
02:54You look at his game, and there'd be questions of would it really parallel from the college
02:58ranks up to the professional level, and he's shown glimpses that he's a decent quarterback
03:04at times, Joe, but he's also shown some massive weaknesses and really making some poor decisions.
03:10I know coaching's been a lot to blame with that one.
03:13You look at this stat sheet, 16 of 28, 159 yards, but it is that key and critical turnover
03:19late in the game that ultimately cost him.
03:22It was, but at the same time, I mean, listen, I'm willing to give.
03:26I wasn't a big Caleb Williams guy at USC.
03:29I didn't think he should have been the number one pick.
03:33I was a big Jaden Daniels fan, and I think we all know how that has eventually turned
03:37out here, but coaching matters, and Jaden Daniels ends up getting Kingsbury as his offensive
03:45coordinator, and Caleb Williams by this time next year will be on his, what, second, third
03:50head coach, second, third offensive coordinator.
03:53He's only been in the league a year, so you didn't get it done last night, but prior to
04:00that interception, they had a fourth down that he had to complete to keep the drive
04:05alive on the play prior to the interception, and you saw him in the conditions, running
04:11for his life once again, completed that fourth down pass in just unbelievable fashion, and
04:17that's what he's capable of doing.
04:18The problem is, if you can't protect a rookie quarterback, and he's getting sacked, and
04:23I think last night, again, they set the record for the franchise and the amount of times
04:28the quarterback has gotten sacked on a year, I mean, that's the Bears.
04:32That's what you're dealing with, so unfortunately for Caleb Williams, congrats, you're the number
04:37one pick in the draft.
04:39Unfortunately, it was the Chicago Bears that you landed with.
