00:00Spiders and their webs, no doubt, send a tingle down many of our spines.
00:03But new research has discovered they might also put a jig in your step.
00:07Everyone knows that spider webs are traps laid by spiders.
00:10Ones that issue an alert via touch when something has been caught.
00:13Well, now scientists have begun to decode those alerts,
00:16translating them into music.
00:18And they're as haunting as one might expect.
00:21This is what the researchers say those spider webs sound like.
00:24An eerie cacophony ripped straight out of a horror movie.
00:27And different structures of webs created by different species of spiders
00:30produce their own distinct tunes.
00:36This work began back in 2021.
00:38But the researchers working on the project continue to push it further.
00:42They have even developed a new type of music for the project.
00:45It's called the Spider Web.
00:46But the researchers working on the project continue to push it further.
00:50They have even built a VR spider web environment with realistic web physics.
00:54Letting researchers test what it might be like for the spiders themselves.
00:57With MIT engineer and researcher on the project Marcus Buehler saying about it,
01:10Adding that they are now understanding what each vibration means.
01:13Something which might someday allow them to speak spider.
