00:00PAS Youth has thrown its weight behind former lecturer Kamarul Zaman Yusuf in his legal

00:06battle with Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeo.

00:10The defamation suit filed by Yeo stemmed from allegations that Kamarul falsely accused her

00:15of using religion for political purposes.

00:18In a statement today, PAS Youth Chief Afnan Hamimi Taib Azamuddin said Kamarul's statements

00:24against Yeo were factual analysis and not slander as claimed by the minister.

00:30He said the wing views the issue seriously, especially when it contradicts the country's

00:35official religion and touches on Malay-Muslim sensitivities, disrupting societal harmony

00:40in the country.

00:43In 2022, Yeo, the Sengabut MP, filed a lawsuit against Kamarul, a former special officer

00:49to then-Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaacob, over two Facebook posts from May 2017, where

00:55he accused her of using her biography to push a Christian agenda and attempting to convert

01:00Malaysia into a Christian country.

01:03Yeo claims the accusations are false and defamatory, seeking general, aggravated and exemplary

01:08damages, while Kamarul defends his posts as justified and not defamatory.
