00:12Energy efficiency from the detractions over 56% of the savings.
00:18Vatican Museum inaugurated the new eco-cover of the Cortile delle Corazze.
00:25Thanks to projects carried out since 2021 and aimed at respecting the indications of Europe on the issue of efficiency,
00:31in 2023 Italy obtained new energy savings for a total of 3.6 million tons equivalent of oil.
00:39And this is one of the data emerged from the 13th annual ENEA report on energy efficiency.
00:44ENEA obviously plays a role of a privileged observer,
00:48follows these dynamics and contributes to providing solutions,
00:53also prospecting possible actions to the competent ministries of action,
00:59involving all stakeholders who then, at various levels,
01:02participate in the issue of energy efficiency and, above all, also citizens.
01:07Let us remember that energy efficiency is done through the end user.
01:11Therefore, a change of behavior is also needed and a collective sharing
01:15of the importance of energy efficiency in terms of positive outcomes
01:20from the point of view of savings and from the point of view of reducing polluting emissions.
01:24These are the results of a virtuous path in which the role of tax deductions,
01:30which have contributed to more than half of the total savings, has been primary.
01:34Also important is the weight of energy efficiency titles,
01:37encouraging policies and obligations for large enterprises and energy companies.
01:42The data at the national level are certainly encouraging.
01:46We have recognized a continuation of a positive trend in savings obtained
01:53and this obviously gives us optimism.
01:56The savings obtained in 2023 are about 3.6 MTEP,
02:03which can be counted on the objectives of the PNIEC.
02:08At the event of the presentation of the report held in Rome at Spazio Europa,
02:12also exponents of the institutions intervened,
02:15including the Minister of the Environment and Energy Security, Gilberto Pichetto-Fratin,
02:20and the President of the Parliamentary Office of Bilancio, Lidia Cavallari.
02:23The first indication that emerges is the need to act quickly on the PNRR,
02:31in particular on projects related to energy efficiency.
02:34This is also important for a reason,
02:38namely that these projects have an impact on the economy, on growth,
02:44which is higher than, for example, non-renewable energy projects.
02:50So the multiplier of investments in alternative energy, in renewable energy,
02:55is about twice the multiplier of investments in fossil fuels.
03:00The ENEA, established in the 1960s,
03:02is the national agency for new technologies, energy and sustainable economic development.
03:07Its annual reports photograph at the national level
03:10the state and evolution of measures for energy efficiency.
03:16Renewable energy, energy efficiency and architectural valorization for sustainable development.
03:21A mix of factors that converge in the inauguration of the new photovoltaic glass roof
03:26in the Cortile delle Corazze of the Vatican Museum.
03:29The project, as a result of the collaboration between the Governorate of the Vatican City and ACEA,
03:34was completed in record time, just six months.
03:38Made by Areti, a company of the ACEA group specializing in the distribution of electric energy in Rome,
03:44it is part of a comprehensive vision of sustainability and energy efficiency for the Vatican,
03:49which continues with further interventions planned in the coming months.
03:53The new structure covers an area of 1200 square meters
03:57and stands out for its double impact.
04:00On the one hand, the installation of photovoltaic glass will allow an annual production of renewable energy.
04:05On the other hand, the aesthetic and functional appearance of the roof
04:08values one of the most iconic places in the Eternal City.
04:11It is a plant that, as we see, is composed of 235 high-performance photovoltaic panels,
04:18which was carried out thanks to the network coordination
04:23with a series of suppliers and subcontractors
04:27in a harmony that allowed everything to be done in six months,
04:32obviously reconciling the realization of this infrastructure
04:36with the visits of tourists that have never been interrupted during this period.
04:40In addition to the roof of the Cortile delle Corazze,
04:42the project also includes the installation of photovoltaic glass
04:45for the Vignaccia warehouse in the Vatican Gardens,
04:48which will be completed within the first months of 2025.
04:52In addition, the two plants will offer a power of 350 kW of photovoltaic peak
04:57for a total production of about 500 MW of electricity per year.
05:02We have developed, I must say, in great harmony,
05:05together with the technicians of Acea Reti,
05:08these projects that are really complex,
05:11because they are very particular, delicate structures
05:15that insist on very sensitive sites
05:18and therefore are very complex to achieve.
05:22They require time, but this has been achieved in record time.
05:27On the same day, new charging stations for electric vehicles,
05:3220 fast charging points and two ultra-fast,
05:35were inaugurated to facilitate the transition to more sustainable mobility.
05:39These initiatives reiterate the commitment of the Vatican
05:42to technological innovation and environmental protection,
05:45creating tradition and modernity in the heart of a site
05:48a symbol of culture and world history.
