00:00Hello Polly, how are you? Hello, I'm good, you okay?
00:03Yeah, so we're on Wild Cop and it's your project, your shop, Snoop.
00:09Snoop, where did you come up with the name from?
00:12I was getting an idea of how people think about going around shopping
00:18and the whole thing was about snooping around somewhere and going inside and how you feel.
00:23So yes, that's why I called it Snoop. Great idea.
00:26You've just completed your second Christmas, just in the thicks of it still a little bit as we head into the new year.
00:32How's it been? You're on Wild Cop, probably my favourite street in the whole country, never mind Shrewsbury.
00:39What's it like for a trader here? Because it's not easy times, is it, for traders. How have you been finding it?
00:46I absolutely love being on the Wild Cop. It's the reason that I came to Shrewsbury.
00:52I couldn't have asked for a better start to being on the Cop.
00:56Basically, I came to Shrewsbury just to be on this street, because it is a well-known street in the UK
01:04and it was just named the best one in Britain in the Telegraph the other week, which was great.
01:09But no, I wanted to be part of the independent scene and I just knew that this was the place to be,
01:16so I just waited for a unit to come up and it happened.
01:19So imagine I bump into you on holiday and I say, oh, so what do you do? You say, I've got a shop.
01:24And I say, what shop is it then? Tell us about it. What do you do here? What do you sell? What's it all about?
01:30So I absolutely love colour. So it is a very colourful shop, which draws a lot of people in.
01:36Kids absolutely love it because they see it when they come past.
01:39Yeah, it's a great frontage on the street.
01:41But yeah, it's inspired by Scandinavian design, although 80% of the brands in here are actually British.
01:48But yeah, it's mainly like a Danish, Scandi vibe, lots of colour and lots of small independent makers
01:56because I think that's really important, especially now.
01:59And I've come from a creative background, so I know exactly how it is to be a small maker.
02:04So what are some of the products you've got? You've got stuff for dogs, you've got all kinds of stuff for stickers, I can see.
02:09Yeah, so I call it a bit like a lifestyle store, so you've got a bit of everything.
02:13So you've got like chocolate and coffee, you've got dog stuff, cat stuff, your blankets and your homeware, books, vases, jewellery, cards and gift wrap.
02:25And you also do special little events. You've got a few little kind of one-off craft events coming up, haven't you?
02:31Yeah, we've got some workshops coming up. We do them in the evenings and we do them around the table in the shop.
02:40They're with local makers and I just basically wanted to meet local people and local creatives and get fun and have a good time.
02:48So we've got a charm necklace workshop coming up with East Hope Studio and a sip and paint class with Alicia.
02:55And then we've got a couple of other bits coming up that we're just in the background working on to do some silver jewellery.
03:02That's awesome. I mean, it's just great fun, but also good for the mind, isn't it, to kind of focus on something creative.
03:08A lot of us are losing that kind of touch, aren't we, that we used to sit down and concentrate on something for more than 10 seconds.
03:16Yeah, no, it is nice. And when people come, they always sort of say like, oh, it's so nice to actually take a time out of your life and take that rest.
03:23It's like a couple of hours for you, really, which is lovely.
03:27Fantastic. People want to get involved with the workshops, Polly. How do they kind of find out more info?
03:33So we're on social media, on Instagram. But if you don't have Instagram, we have a website, which is snoopshrewsbury.co.uk.
03:40And all the info's on there for the workshops and shopping online or coming into the shop.
03:45Awesome. So any particular workshop you're looking forward to yourself?
03:49I'm looking forward to the sip and paint one this time.
03:52Sip and paint?
03:53Yeah, no, it's fun. A bit of Prosecco.
03:55Oh, is it? And you're meant to be able to paint straight lines after.
04:00Well, the art teacher helps, so it's fine.
04:02Yeah, yeah. And what's the theme of the painting then? Is it kind of anything people want to, and he helps with techniques?
04:08Yeah, so she will help you if you wanted to do any particular type of painting, if you've got the style in mind.
04:15Or you can find things on Pinterest, or she even can do canvases and pre-draw the canvases so that you can paint over.
04:23So it's for all abilities, basically.
04:25It happens right here on World Cop, and how long's a craft session then last, roughly?
04:29Roughly like two and a half to three hours, depending on which one it is.
04:33Fantastic. Well, all the best, Polly. Thank you.
