00:00What if I told you that I held the power to change the way you look at certain scenes and moments from within the galaxy far, far away forever?
00:09Would you choose to refrain from being exposed to the reality of what actually goes into becoming an Imperial Trooper?
00:15Or would you fully embrace the truth behind the various puppets, droids and aliens found occupying this much-loved universe?
00:23If it is the former, then turn your innocent Padawan head away now.
00:27But if it's the latter, then, well, this is where the fun begins.
00:31I'm Gareth from WhatCulture Star Wars and here are 10 Star Wars moments impossible to watch the same way after this video.
00:3810. The cast were forced to act to Alan Tudyk's groin.
00:42Rogue One, A Star Wars Story
00:45Arguably the most unanticipated source of Rogue One joy came in the form of Alan Tudyk's wisecracking, towering Imperial KX-Series security droid by the name of K-2SO.
00:56The reality behind what actually went into bringing this modified banter robot into being, though, is perhaps even funnier than the machine himself.
01:03In order to play the droid on set during his various moments appearing alongside Pal Kassian Andor and the rest of the Rogue One crew,
01:11Tudyk needed to be placed on stilts whilst donning a rather tight CGI-friendly costume.
01:16So this ultimately meant that the likes of Diego Luna and co. were always forced to act with their co-star at a very specific height.
01:23And as Luna would explain a few years back when discussing Tudyk's return as K-2SO in Andor,
01:29all involved were likely once again going to be made to act directly at the actor's balls throughout that shoot too.
01:34So next time you take in this epic double act, know that Luna regularly found himself in what he classed as a quite intimidating situation whenever K-2SO was sharing the frame with him.
01:459. Qunari was only taught to the children, Andor
01:48Sticking with one of the greatest things to happen to the Star Wars galaxy in modern times,
01:53Disney Plus' Andor series also brought with it a new unique language in the form of Qunari.
01:58And as revealed by Marvel Andor legend herself Fiona Shaw,
02:02it turns out that none of the adults seen interacting with the children found on Qunari had a clue what the youngsters were talking about in the language.
02:10Which was actually a fusion of Spanish, Portuguese and Hungarian due to the fact that only the kids speaking it were taught Qunari.
02:17This forced the actors to depend on the body language and facial expressions given off by their young Kasa co-star during those flashback sequences.
02:25Throwing Kassian's eventual adoptive mother into a similar scenario as the one viewers found themselves in,
02:30with the show opting to not use subtitles during these early Qunari moments.
02:34Knowing that Shaw's Marva and Gary Beadle's Clem also genuinely didn't understand what the spooked Qunari child was going on about,
02:41definitely adds another layer of authenticity to the already impressively grounded Tony Gilroy Rogue One prequel show.
02:48Number 8, Werner Herzog forgot he was acting with a puppet, the Mandalorian.
02:53You'd be lying if he said you hadn't found yourself completely forgetting, even for just a brief second,
02:58that the lovable little green icon that is Grogu was actually little more than a ridiculously believable puppet at various points throughout the Mandalorian series.
03:07In the case of one of the stars of the first season of that Disney Plus hit though,
03:11the child puppet was so damn impressive that they actually regularly found themselves getting lost in the illusion,
03:16to the point of actually treating Baby Yoda as if he was an actual living thing.
03:21In fact, director Deborah Chow even went as far as to confess that she experienced one utterly bizarre moment on set,
03:27involving herself giving Werner Herzog some direction, only for the star who had clearly fallen in love with the baby,
03:33and perhaps even forgotten it wasn't actually, you know, alive, to start giving direction to his puppet co-star.
03:39This genuine commitment to believing in Grogu being as much a part of the living cast as the likes of Din Djarin and co,
03:45undoubtedly changes the way you take in Herzog's mesmerizing work as the client during that galaxy-gripping first season, it must be said.
03:52And he's still real to me, damn it.
03:54Number 7, Luke's last Leia kiss wasn't in the script, episode 8, The Last Jedi.
03:59Luke Skywalker's emotional peck on his sister Leia Organa's head before his confrontation with Kylo Ren,
04:05was up there as one of the sequel trilogy's most moving occurrences.
04:09But what you may not be aware of is the fact that this specific part of Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher's moment together in episode 3,
04:16wasn't actually a part of the scripted plan at all.
04:19Hamill would note on Twitter a little later down the road that this was an emotionally charged day on set,
04:24due to the fact that Luke knew he was saying goodbye forever.
04:27So in a truly touching moment, Hamill chose to land an unscripted and spontaneous kiss on Fisher's head,
04:33summarizing his slash my feelings in a way words could never have conveyed, as he put it.
04:38Talk about making an already heartbreaking sequence even harder to sit through without bawling like a baby, eh?
04:44Number 6, David Prowse's eye briefly makes a cameo, episode 4, A New Hope.
04:49It's safe to say there's quite a lot going on as the first ever Star Wars adventure reaches its thrilling climax.
04:55With Luke and the rest of his Rebel Alliance mates attempting to blow up the Death Star,
04:59with one highly accurate shot down an exhaust port,
05:02as Darth Vader and a number of TIE fighters try to keep the superweapons safe.
05:06So you'd be forgiven from completely missing one rather brief moment in the thick of the action,
05:10that actually revealed a little more of the man under the mask of the iconic Big Bad,
05:15than George Lucas and co. were likely wanting to originally expose.
05:19As Luke closes in on completing his all-important mission,
05:22a quick shot of Vader looking up at a departing wedge Antilles,
05:26brings with it a cheeky glimpse of actor David Prowse's eye,
05:29behind the usually hard to see through red lens of his legendary mask.
05:33Whether it was Lucas' intention to subtly peer into the shell containing a fallen Anakin Skywalker for a second or not,
05:39once you spot the human eyeball lurking within during this blink-and-you'll-miss-it shot,
05:43it's very hard to unsee the Prowse staring back at you.
05:47Number 5, Carrie Fisher's dog makes a sort of secret cameo, episode 8, The Last Jedi.
05:53One sequel trilogy cameo that even the most eagle-eyed fans likely would have struggled to catch during episode 8,
05:58actually saw none other than the late great Carrie Fisher's own lovable pooch, Gary, get in on the action.
06:04Well, sort of.
06:05Inspired by the Leia Organa star's own French bulldog,
06:09Space Gary was actually a Sheffy pet, also known as Augury,
06:12owned by Gatha Elbuffet, a patron of Canto Bight's casino.
06:17The tribute to Fisher's dog was an animatronic puppet operated by Daisy Beatty,
06:21that was also attached to the costume of Elbuffet worn by performer Paul Warren,
06:25throughout the sequences on Cantonica.
06:28The Canto Bight sequence may not have been everyone's cup of blue milk,
06:31but at least it came equipped with an homage that's almost impossible not to adore once you catch it.
06:36Number 4, Mark Hamill's number sneaks into a scene, episode 4, A New Hope.
06:41A young Mark Hamill clearly had a feeling that a decent number of folks
06:44were going to witness his performance as Luke Skywalker,
06:47in what would eventually become known as A New Hope.
06:50So, the actor had a cheeky idea while shooting the film's iconic trash compactor sequence.
06:54Early on, Hamill was under the impression that he'd be tasked with delivering a line to C-3PO,
06:59involving a serial number in the scene,
07:01and decided that he'd sneak his own phone number into the moment
07:04so that it would be forever preserved on film.
07:07Only when it came time to shoot the sequence in question,
07:10the blocking of the scene meant that Harrison Ford had to let loose the line instead.
07:14Bummer.
07:14After arguing over who would get the chance to say their own number on screen,
07:18the Han Solo star finally gave the big baby, as he put it, his wish,
07:22and declared Mark's digits.
07:24Leading to Hamill letting out a laugh at just how childish he'd been acting up to that point.
07:29But that's still apparently very much the Luke Skywalker actor's number at the time,
07:33being blared out by Han after narrowly avoiding being squished to death.
07:37So that's something, eh?
07:38Number 3, Darth Sidious wielding two lightsabers is hinted at.
07:42Episode 3, Revenge of the Sith
07:44A few years before the animated hit series that was The Clone Wars burst onto the scene in 2008,
07:50Revenge of the Sith debuted the first look at Darth Sidious wielding his very own Sith
07:54lightsaber during a few duels with various Jedi Masters.
07:58After first trying to best Mace Windu in a one-on-one lightsaber fight
08:01and ultimately having his weapon knocked out of a window,
08:04Sidious once again whips out another trusty red blade
08:07during his eventual battle with Yoda later on in Episode 3.
08:11And while some initially assumed that Emperor Palpatine was perhaps hiding
08:14a decent supply of backups to call upon,
08:16should he unfortunately lose or break one of his trusty weapons,
08:20the canon truth behind his multiple lightsabers was revealed
08:23during that aforementioned animated show.
08:25During an earlier duel with Maul and Savage Opress in The Clone Wars,
08:29Sidious can actually be seen wielding
08:31both of his eventual Revenge of the Sith lightsabers at the same time,
08:35suggesting that his second blade used against his little green rifle
08:38was anything but a backup.
08:40Fans of the prequels may not have been given any real concrete information
08:43as to how Sidious was able to conjure up another weapon so quickly
08:47after his disarming at the hands of Windu,
08:49but those who immersed themselves in The Clone Wars
08:51were very much treated to a moment that changes the way
08:54you look at Palpatine's Revenge of the Sith weapons forever.
08:572. A Taped-Up Stormtrooper Episode 4, A New Hope
09:02The life of a stormtrooper can be a pretty tough and physical one
09:05at the best of times,
09:06and when in the thick of trying to capture the galaxy's favourite princess,
09:09a few bumps and scrapes are to be expected along the way.
09:12However, far from allowing a bit of armour damage
09:15to keep one particularly driven white armoured Imperial unit down,
09:19it appears a stormtrooper seen early on in A New Hope
09:22had an easily missable solution.
09:24If you look closely at one of the troops stood alongside Leia
09:26as she's captured by her eventually revealed father, Darth Vader,
09:30you'll spot that this terrible shot is actually keeping their gear together
09:33with a simple piece of white gaffer tape.
09:36In reality, this was likely just a cheeky quick fix
09:38the folks behind the first ever Star Wars picture
09:41were hoping would slip through the cracks in the finished product.
09:44And it did for a few decades there.
09:46But HD and 4K revisits to the galaxy far, far away
09:49have ensured that even the smallest visual imperfections
09:52can now be easily spotted with just the push of a pause button.
09:56These glimpses into the reality
09:57behind what went into crafting this 1977 classic
10:01only add to the charm of Lucas' original trilogy starter though.
10:04More tape, I say!
10:06Number one, Pedro Pascal wasn't Mando for an entire episode,
10:09The Mandalorian.
10:11Quickly establishing himself as one of the new celebrated faces
10:15of the next generation of Star Wars tales,
10:17Pedro Pascal's work as Din Djarin during The Mandalorian
10:20soon helped cement that Disney Plus series
10:23as the best thing to happen to the franchise in years.
10:26And while there most definitely wouldn't be a Mandalorian series
10:28without the titular bounty hunter,
10:30there was actually an episode there when the show found a way to go on
10:33without the need for Pascal to even be on set.
10:36With the star of the show actually being too busy
10:38to appear in episode four of the first season known as Sanctuary
10:42due to him rehearsing for King Lear on Broadway at the time,
10:45Bryce Dallas Howard later confirmed
10:46that she wasn't actually working with Pascal
10:49at any point in that chapter.
10:50This meant that Mando was brought to life on set
10:52through the physical work of stunt doubles Brendan Wayne
10:55and Lateef Crowder in the end.
10:57And Pascal simply voiced the character later down the road.
11:00The end result is unquestionably seamless
11:02and very few would be quick to assume
11:04that Pedro was nowhere to be seen
11:05during the physical shooting of the fourth episode.
11:08But that is very much a physically Pascal-less Mando
11:11scene taking down an AT-ST on Sorgan.
11:14And that's our list.
