00:00As we've pointed out, it has been a challenging start to the fire season.
00:07There are 49 total fire bans currently declared across the state, and the state risk level
00:11is set at major.
00:13We are in the middle of a very difficult fire day right across the state, especially across
00:18the Wheatbelt and the Great Southern regions.
00:21Currently there's another fire at Glen Rowan or Scottsdale near Denmark, which is thankfully
00:25contained and controlled.
00:27This fire was ignited by a tractor, and so I would urge people to please think of the
00:32consequences before conducting any of these types of activities on high fire danger days.
00:38We want communities to remain alert, especially as large parts of southern WA have endured
00:43a dry spell during the first half of 2024, and fuel loads have dried off quickly as the
00:48weather heats up.
00:49There is always the potential for bushfires to start, particularly when we're faced with
00:55these significant lightning events that we had yesterday afternoon and into this morning.
01:00Please take the time to make a bushfire plan for you and your family.
01:03It only takes 15 minutes to create this plan using the My Bushfire Plan app.
01:08And always stay up to date with local conditions and alerts by checking Emergency WA, listening
01:13to local radio broadcasts, following DFS on social media, and call 13DFS if you require
01:19any further information.
