We speak to local business owners and sole traders and get their opinion on the state of the high street.

00:00There is a sense of community, but it seems a shame that it's come to local businesses
00:05to have to club together to boost the high street.
00:08Something like simple cuts to business rates, help from the government just to sort of make
00:12it a little bit easier, would go a long way.
00:16Perhaps even free parking at peak times, just to sort of get more people wanting to stay
00:22and do more on the high street.
00:24The Christmas tree thing has been really good, that makes it look really pretty and obviously
00:28that's brought everybody together, there was a light ceremony and that was a nice night.
00:33And I think they're revamping the shopping centre, so that's working really well, it's
00:39just a shame it's not spreading down this end of the high street really.
00:41I think we could do with a lot more fashion outlets to attract people, I mean the pubs
00:47are great, food's good, we've got a lot of cafes and things, but I think more on the
00:54gift side and fashion would maybe attract a few more shoppers.
