00:10we're counting down our picks for every fight against Ganon or Ganondorf in the Zelda franchise from worst to best.
00:17To be clear, we won't be including fights that don't involve the real Ganon. No phantoms or echoes here.

00:42Number 10, Ganon, The Legend of Zelda.
00:49You have to start somewhere, and the first fight against Ganon in the franchise is just not very good.
00:55The blue pigman is mostly invisible unless you hit him with your sword.
00:59Once you hit him enough, Ganon will turn brown and can be killed by a silver arrow.
01:05Time has rendered this a fairly easy boss fight.
01:08However, before the internet and strategy guides, a boss you couldn't see, whose only weakness is an item you may or may not
01:15have found, was a major pain to deal with. This Ganon is truly the worst of both worlds.
01:22Too easy if you know how to beat him, impossible if you don't.
01:31Number 9, Ganon, The Legend of Zelda, Oracle of Ages and Seasons.
01:36After completing the linked version of these two Game Boy Color games, Link can face off against Ganon.
01:42The big bad's disappearing act returns as he vanishes constantly.
01:47The spin attack comes in handy with this fight, so charge whenever he's invisible.
01:52Ganon also fires off several orbs which you can dodge by jumping.
01:56When he gets low on health, the villain will transport you to a blue dimension where your controls are inverted.
02:03However, apart from these gimmicks and a decently catchy theme, this battle doesn't have much to set it apart from other 2D Ganon fights.
02:12Number 8, Ganon, The Legend of Zelda, A Link to the Past.
02:16Only the second fight with Ganon, yet the final boss of A Link to the Past, is a big step up from its predecessor.
02:28The Super Nintendo offers a more detailed Ganon sprite, as well as a more complex battle.
02:34The swine teleports around the arena, tossing his trident and fire bats your way.
02:39He piles on the pressure, knocking down the outer tiles of the arena and even turning out the lights.
02:45However, you can keep the room lit with the lamp or fire rod, while also attacking until he gets stunned.
02:52In this state, Ganon's once again vulnerable to the silver arrows, though it'll take four before he finally goes down.
03:00It's simple, but it did set the bar for 2D Ganon duels.
03:11Number 7, Ganon, The Legend of Zelda, Four Swords Adventures.
03:15For most battles against Link's archenemy, you have to go things alone.
03:26But, you can avoid that danger entirely in this co-op adventure with up to four players taking on Ganon at once.
03:33All the usual tricks are back, teleporting, fireballs, a trident.
03:37However, there are a few new moves too, like lightning and having to switch to the Game Boy Advance to fight skeletons.
03:45Eventually, Zelda will be freed and you'll need to volley Ganon's attacks back at him while she charges up.
03:51Everything's better with friends, including defeating the King of Evil.
04:05Number 6, Yuga Ganon, The Legend of Zelda, A Link Between Worlds.
04:15Technically, this fight is against the sorcerer Yuga possessing Ganon's body, but it's still the real Ganon, so we're counting it.
04:23Along with giving the porcine villain a new look, Yuga Ganon also switches up some of his tactics.
04:29The first stage, like the rest of the game, pays tribute to A Link to the Past, with the standard trident attacks and occasional projectiles.
04:37However, after damaging Yuga Ganon enough, the unholy fusion will absorb Princess Hilda,
04:43gaining the power to turn into a painting.
04:46Once you volley some energy attacks back at him, Yuga Ganon will become a painting,
04:51and you can use the Bow of Light on him after you go 2D as well.
04:55This fight adds new dimensions to a classic battle.
05:05Number 5, Calamity Ganon, The Legend of Zelda, Breath of the Wild.
05:13Whenever you decide to confront the primal evil looming over this game, it'll be quite the battle.
05:27The first phase sees you battle the Arachna Ganon inside Hyrule Castle,
05:31where he'll mimic the Blight Ganon bosses while also firing lasers at you like a guardian.
05:36How difficult he is naturally depends on when you fight him and what weapons or upgrades you bring with you.
05:43Defeating all the divine beasts will cut Ganon's health bar in half, for example.
05:48The final stage on horseback is quite easy though,
05:51as you just have to hit his weak spots with the Bow of Light.
05:54While its variable difficulty and a lack of personality from Ganon hold it back,
05:59the battle goes far on spectacle.
06:02Number 4, Ganondorf-slash-Ganon, The Legend of Zelda, Twilight Princess.
06:20Perhaps the most involved fight against Ganon, this battle has four counter-attacks.

06:33The first has you fight a possessed Princess Zelda,
06:36volleying energy balls with your sword to defeat-slash-free her.
06:40Next, you face Dark Beast Ganon.
06:43He'll charge through portals to attack, and you must use your sword,
06:46arrows, and that throwing technique you've barely used to beat him.
06:50Next, you chase Ganondorf on horseback with Zelda, who fires light arrows when you get close enough.
06:56Finally, you'll engage in a sword duel with him before delivering the final blow.
07:00We can't fault the ambition of the fight, and it has some incredible moments.
07:05However, the gameplay in some portions is a bit awkward and could have used some polishing.
07:18Number 3, Ganondorf-slash-Ganon, The Legend of Zelda, Ocarina of Time.
07:27In your confrontation with Ganondorf atop his tower,
07:32the Vile King takes a break from practicing the organ to duel you.
07:36The first part of the fight is pretty easy.
07:38Reflect his attacks with your sword and or hit him with a light arrow to stun him to move in close.
07:44But even an exciting countdown sequence to escape the collapsing castle with Zelda
07:49isn't the end of it.
07:50Ganondorf rises again, transforming into Ganon and depriving you of the Master Sword.
07:56You need to hit his tail,
07:58which you can reach by rolling between his legs or stunning him with light arrows.
08:02It's a fantastic final battle with great presentation and high stakes throughout.
08:14Number 2, Ganondorf-The Legend of Zelda, The Wind Waker.
08:26Talk about cinematic.
08:28After delivering a strangely humanizing speech, Ganondorf easily takes down Link and Zelda.
08:34However, once he loses his wish on the Triforce,
08:37the villain breaks down laughing as the sea above comes raining down.
08:42Desperate and with nothing to lose, Ganondorf takes on Link and Zelda in one last duel.
08:48While not as complex gameplay-wise, this fight is nearly perfect.
08:53You even get to fight alongside Zelda for a change.
08:56As you parry Ganondorf's attacks, she stuns him with light arrows,
09:00which you must eventually reflect with your shield.
09:03Between the novel two-on-one setup, epic music,
09:06and the fact that it is literally dripping with atmosphere,
09:09this is easily one of the greatest Ganondorf fights.
09:12Number 1, Ganondorf-The Legend of Zelda, Tears of the Kingdom.
09:16Regardless, I will reshape this world as it was meant to be.
09:21I will crush any opposition. I will rule.
09:25Call it recency bias if you like, but Link's rematch with Ganondorf is absolute fire.

09:46He has nasty tricks like being able to disable and destroy your hearts,
09:50as well as perfectly dodging your attacks.
09:52After you deplete one health bar, he'll transform into an even cooler form
09:57and summon Phantom Ganons, who can face off against your allies.
10:01When you at last seem to have won,
10:03Ganondorf swallows his secret stone to transform into a demonic dragon for an aerial battle.
10:09Although this Ganondorf battle does have variable difficulty, it remains pretty challenging.
10:14Plus, the overall presentation and spectacle of the fight are basically unmatched.
