00:00Meralco's interest has decreased in the next few months. Regulatory reset fees have been lifted, but the purchase of reserves of electricity in 2024 will also start to decrease.

00:13We have first news from Macky Pulido.

00:16Due to the upcoming refunds, it is possible that there will be months this year when electricity bills will be a little bit more relaxed.

00:26In February, almost Php 1 billion will be refunded that was not used but was borrowed by private distributors to be paid to the experts of the Energy Regulatory Commission.

00:36That's around Php 23 per kWh for Meralco's customers.

00:40We don't need those funds, so those funds need to be returned.

00:43By April, Meralco's Php 16 billion refund will be felt.

00:49The refund can still be increased because the Energy Regulatory Commission will review Meralco's excess fees from 2022 to 2024.

00:57But if there is a refund, there is also an increase.

00:59The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines will also reduce the purchase of electricity reserves from February last year, equivalent to Php 12 per kWh, within three to six months.

01:11There were excess fees within a few years of the ERC's Regulatory Reset or the account of how much will be paid to the customers.

01:20If the NGCP's Regulatory Reset is planned, for example, it will be known if it will be refunded or the fees will be added.

01:28If the ERC decides to allow the NGCP to ask for projects that are not yet completed, it is equivalent to a Php 12 per kWh increase.

01:38But there will be a Php 1 per kWh refund within a year if the ERC decides that it can only ask for projects that are already completed.

01:48The resets will really need to be completed for Meralco and NGCP.

01:52For Rebecca, a working student, it's a big deal to get a few centimes refund, especially if it will be returned within a few cents.

01:59While studying, Rebecca is worried because her family is in the province.

02:05I don't want to get a refund because it will be a big help for my food, for the tricycle to go to school, for the jeepney.

02:12I think it's just a barrier or a small rollback.

02:17But she has another problem.

02:19One of the problems that Rebecca is facing is the lack of electricity for Meralco's maintenance.

02:25The schedule of Meralco's maintenance is on the website and Facebook page of Meralco.

02:29It's important for us to make sure that our facilities are in tip-top condition so that we can face the challenges of the time.

02:39Summer months will start and then the rainy season will end.

02:44It's a hassle, but Rebecca will just have to endure it by sidelining as a virtual assistant.

02:50Maybe I just need to go out to find an establishment that provides outlets.

02:58It's really inconvenient for me.
