00:00The Social Security System or SSS is clear regarding the additional contribution this year.

00:06This is part of the Social Security Act of 2018 that started back in 2019.

00:11This is also the last addition to the so-called law.

00:15Because of the greater contribution, the fund life of the SSS will be extended until 2053, which was previously only until 2032.

00:24This will also help to provide support to the government in times of need, such as the time of calamity.

00:32The SSS has already accepted to increase the contribution rate by 15% in 2025.

00:38Today, a group protested in Quezon City to stop this act.

00:46The former garbage collector in Manila refused to collect garbage in the city

00:52before their contract ends on December 31, 2024.

00:56Manila Mayor Hon. Lacuna said on December 30 that the former garbage collector did not collect garbage,

01:02so the garbage was dumped on the streets.

01:06But the Lionel Waste Management Corporation did not abandon their obligation in the city until their contract ends.

01:15When the company announced to their employees on December 23 that their contract in Manila would end,

01:21the company told them to continue the service until the end of 2024.

01:27Lionel also said that they will continue to collect garbage even though Manila LGU still owes more than Php 561 million.

01:38In September, the company talked to Mayor Lacuna that they will not join the bidding for 2025

01:45because they have not yet paid their debt and that they will move to a new garbage collector.

01:52According to Mayor Lacuna, the reason why the Lionel did not join the bidding was different,

01:58but the Mayor did not mention it.
