00:00Two-time SEA Games gold medalist, Mervyn Guarte, was killed while sleeping.

00:07He was stabbed in the chest while at the house of a friend in Calapan, Oriental Mindoro.

00:24for winning many medals from the Southeast Asian Games in the obstacle course racing and athletics.

00:35But the heroism shown in the field of strength ended in violence.

00:40The 33-year-old athlete was brought home this morning

00:44after being stabbed in the chest in Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro.

00:48He was taken to the hospital and talked to an investigator before he was brought back to life.

00:58He was sleeping when he was stabbed.

01:02Based on the PNP investigation, Guarte was drinking at the house of a friend in Concijal.

01:07It was around 3 a.m. when he fell asleep in his friend's room.

01:12After more than an hour, he was stabbed while sleeping.

01:18He was asking for help from his friends at home.

01:26When the suspect escaped, he left behind the bloody kitchen knife that he used.

01:31The knife was cut and the blade fell on the crime scene.

01:38Our investigator was able to recover it.

01:40When the investigator went to the hospital,

01:45he was the only one who was seen in the chest.

01:48The possible motive for the crime and the possible person of interest is still being investigated.

01:55They might have had a misunderstanding during the drinking session.

02:06The Philippine Sports Community condemned the death of the SEA Games gold medalist

02:11and the Philippine Sports Commission and the Philippine Obstacle Sports Federation.
