00:00We're thrilled to bring back Anyone's Newcastle Restaurant Week this January.
00:03It's always a culinary highlight for so many across the year.
00:07We've run it two times across the year and this year we have over 114 restaurants involved
00:12and that number continues to grow year on year.
00:15Anyone's Newcastle Restaurant Week is an event which happens twice a year and it allows us
00:20to come out into some of the best city restaurants and dine at a discounted rate.
00:24It's always such a popular time for many.
00:26It's a great excuse just after Christmas if you haven't managed to catch up with
00:29friends or family and a great time to get out as colleagues in the office as well to
00:34explore some of the city's best restaurants.
00:36It's something we always as a team look forward to putting on.
00:39Everybody's excited about it, whether it's restaurants like here in Millow and Carter
00:42or also diners who are always straight in the group chats ready to book their favourite
00:47restaurants.
00:49Restaurant Week has a huge economic impact for the hospitality businesses in the city
00:53centre.
00:54Last year there was over two million economic impact from the two events that we put on
00:58but it's not just the economic impact in the venues themselves.
01:01People come in on public transport, they may stay and enjoy a show or enjoy a glass of
01:05wine prior or afterwards.
01:07So it does just bring a huge boost for the area beyond those initial restaurants that
01:12do get involved.
01:14Restaurant Week was an initiative which we started back in 2011 where we had 13 restaurants
01:18in the city who thought this was a brilliant idea and it turns two of hopefully the quietest
01:22times of the year into two of the busiest and since then it has grown in strength and
01:27numbers and reputation.
01:29This year January's Restaurant Week is 13th to the 19th of January so the Monday right
01:33the way through to the Sunday so whether you want to enjoy a quick lunch or a relaxing
01:37evening meal or maybe both, it gives you plenty of opportunities to do that.
01:41You can see all the venues who are involved on our website getintonewcastle.co.uk and
01:47all of them are listed on there as well as all their menus so you can be a little bit
01:50choosy and find your favourite or maybe try one of the new venues.
01:53We've got over five new venues in the city centre this year and we're really excited
01:57to allow them to have their first experience.
