A new report from the National Human Rights Commission found that nearly half of sexual assault victims in Taiwan are students under the age of 18. The report identified 5,000 cases of sexual abuse in 2023, an average of close to 100 a week.

00:29Students were most at risk from assault from their teachers or others in guardian roles.
00:35One commissioner who worked on the report read some of the survivor testimonies collected

00:41Maybe you think that because there are so many things going on,
00:46you can't even imagine that a teacher would do this to a student.

00:52Maybe you think it's ugly when you hear it.
00:54Maybe you think it's insulting and you can't stand it.

01:02these friends are willing to stand up and open their wounds for us to see.
01:07At least we need to hear what they have to say.
