Mok O'Keefe moved into a castle, and then discovered a previous owner was buried under the cherry tree
Transcript
00:00I'm Mokko Keith and I live in Llanfairhangwylchel Corni in Abergavenny.
00:08My husband and I moved to our baby castle in 2021.
00:12We were living in Gloucestershire.
00:14He wanted to come home to Wales and we couldn't resist it when we saw it in Country Life.
00:18I love history, I love great estates, I love country houses, so it was fantastic the idea
00:23that we could actually live in one.
00:26And as a historian and a gay man I've never seen gay history in the great estates or great
00:31country houses in the UK and I want to put that right by living in one myself.
00:36Well Gladys resides here, I wouldn't say Gladys lives here, so she when she was a small child
00:41planted this cherry tree behind me and she loved the property so much that she asked
00:46to have her ashes placed in the cherry tree when she died.
00:50She died in the house in a room that we now have off our kitchen as our snug and she resides
00:56here and I say hello to her every single morning.
00:59I took a moment, I had to think about the fact there is a dead woman in the garden,
01:03but what it said to me is someone loved this house and if someone loved this house so much
01:09that he wants to spend eternity here well that's a pretty good sign that I'd be happy
01:13here too and I hope one day I might join her in the tree as well.
01:16Halloween this place goes crazy, we have you know spectacles in the garden, we light up
01:20the tree, people love it, the children love it, you know I don't think that Gladys if
01:25she is here and if she is a ghost there's a really good feeling in this house and I
01:29think if she's here she's protecting it, protecting us, protecting the village, it's a house of
01:34love and I think the love comes from Gladys in the tree.
