00:00Satellite images show us just how devastating the LA fires have been.
00:10This image from Planet Labs from January 7th clearly shows the very start of the Palisades
00:16fire. But by January 8th, before and after images from Maxar begin to show us the damage to property
00:23close up. This image is from the Altadena neighbourhood where the Eaton fire took hold.
00:29Smoke began to obscure most of LA but shortwave infrared imagery can pick out
00:33fires raging on the ground. These are before and after images again from the Altadena area.
00:41Every orange glow is an active fire.
00:47And in these images from Planet Labs, everything that appears red is healthy vegetation and you
00:52can see by January 8th the brown areas are everything that has burned. On January the
00:589th, six separate wildfires were still burning in Los Angeles County.
