00:00Head to toe perfection sends across the board.
00:03Welcome to Ms. Mojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the most creative,
00:07masterfully crafted design challenge offering seen on the U.S. editions of Drag Race.
00:12Spoilers ahead.
00:13It's a candy challenge. Where the candy at?
00:17Number 10. Aquaria's Martian eleganza extravaganza.
00:21I'm giving you full villainous power in this final look. I'm giving a whole lotta body.
00:26The queens were tasked with making three looks for this futuristic ball,
00:30but one rose above the rest.
00:32The third and final garment Aquaria presented was the very definition of avant-garde.
00:37I wanna use the materials in a little bit more of a unique way.
00:41I want to rid myself of all colors and play with a kind of paper doll approach to my design.
00:47So I'm giving you graphic, ka-chow, straight out of a comic book, from the future.
00:51The lightning bolt inspired piece was modern, edgy,
00:54and offered up a completely different silhouette.
00:57It acted in perfect juxtaposition to the other attire they premiered on the runway,
01:01allowing it to stand out.
01:03It also summed up everything that made her so unique,
01:06proving that she was the definition of a modern queen.
01:09It's no wonder this helped her clinch one of her first wins on the season,
01:12and why countless fans pegged them as the eventual winner.
01:16But this is the dawning of the age of Aquaria.
01:21Congratulations, you are the winner of this week's challenge.
01:24Number 9.
01:25Jada Essence Hall's Realness of Fortune Eleganza
01:28Someone's been eating crow.
01:30Yes.
01:31I am really feeling this super edgy, fantastical fantasy.
01:37For the Realness of Fortune ball on the all-winners edition,
01:40the queens were tasked with crafting looks based on different colorful vacation spots.
01:44Texture is a way to break up black and make it something new and fun.
01:48That is gorgeous, and that is Jada Essence Hall.
01:51Now, you think you can pull that off?
01:53That is the question of the day.
01:55Although there was plenty of competition,
01:58Jada Essence Hall made her mark with a dress modeled after Hawaii's Black Sand Beach.
02:02The garment was flawlessly made,
02:04featuring several embellishments, including a gorgeous shoulder piece.
02:08It was both dramatic and sensual,
02:10and looked as though it had just come off the runway rather than her sewing machine.
02:14It cemented why she both won her original season,
02:17and why she was invited back to compete again.
02:20That's so Raven.
02:24Can we get some water, because that zebra is panting.
02:26Yes.
02:28Tonight, the fashion girl is in the building.
02:31Crafting a look and then proceeding to rock it like it's what you were born to do is no easy feat.
02:37Yet here, Luxe Noir London managed to make it seem effortless.
02:40For the Fashion Week ensemble, they opted for bold colors and patterns.
02:45The garment is stunning.
02:46Take that Garden State Parkway.
02:49You could never beat me.
02:52You could never.
02:53Her gorgeous purple top and headpiece went perfectly with those zebra print pants,
02:58ensuring that all eyes would be on them.
03:01The construction was also flawless,
03:03with the aforementioned bottoms not having a single seam out of place.
03:07You made not only pants, but a pattern.
03:10Zebra print could be all askew if you don't line it up.
03:13It's also current and modern than Versace meets Cavalli.
03:17It was an advanced piece, but the queen pulled it off as if it were nothing at all.
03:21Is there anything else you want to add?
03:22Not really, I think I did a pretty good job.
03:25Thankfully, Luxe's willingness to take risks paid off.
03:28Indeed, they won the challenge and confirmed she was a force to be reckoned with.
03:33Number 7.
03:34Kim Chi's hairball.
03:38Someone's in a furry.
03:39I made a lion outfit inspired by Ji-Wang Shi.
03:43I turned these reddy, dirty blonde wigs into a golden treasure.
03:47If there's one thing RuPaul will do, it's start things off with a bang,
03:52especially when it comes to show milestones.
03:54For the 100th episode of the series and the first in season 8,
03:58Ru had the contestants craft looks based on previous design challenges.
04:02Kim Chi was assigned season 3's hairball,
04:04and her interpretation was nothing short of genius.
04:08So do you remember the Ji-Wang Shi collection with like the big fur?
04:11Yes.
04:12It's inspired by that.
04:13I want to find a way to like celebrate this beige color.
04:16God, how can you celebrate that?
04:18She crafted a garment inspired by big cats,
04:21utilizing several different textures,
04:23from the fringe along the bottom to the powerful shoulder pads.
04:26Was genius.
04:27We probably don't need to tell you that she emerged victorious.
04:31Every time I'm wearing something different,
04:33I'm living whatever fantasy of the outfit I've got going on.
04:36Number 6.
04:37Shea Coulee's village people eleganza extravaganza.
04:40You better construction work.
04:43I deconstructed a whole bunch of flannel shirts to make a cape.
04:48Talk about showing love to your community
04:49and prove your salt as a seamstress in one fell swoop.
04:52For one of the final challenges of season 9,
04:55the contestants created and presented looks inspired by the iconic village people.
05:00I'm a really big fan of British fashion, you know, Vivienne Westwood, Burberry.
05:04And so I want to do like an interesting kind of like patchwork big skirt
05:09that has like a lot of like punk unfinished edges,
05:12but still really polished and fashion forward.
05:15Shea Coulee easily stood out among the rest.
05:17With her gorgeous deconstructed cape made of flannel,
05:20rhinestone helmet, and boots,
05:22she served a perfect combination of trade and gay pride.
05:26It was the ideal homage to such a formative group
05:28and led to her winning her fourth main challenge.
05:31This particular look that you're wearing right now,
05:33I think it's great.
05:34I love the details.
05:36But for me, the crowning glory is that patchwork,
05:39flannel shirt cape combo.
05:41Number 5.
05:42Roxy Andrews Candy Couture
05:45Taste the rainbow.
05:46Ah, bitches.
05:48Those judges cannot take Miss Couture-ness.
05:51Miss thing, I know my body looks right.
05:53This licorice is exactly where it needs to be laying.
05:56She may have been something of a season 5 villain,
05:58but this look was as sweet as could be.
06:01The top four queens had a particularly tough hurdle to clear,
06:05working to create outfits out of candy.
06:07Roxy Andrews delivered,
06:09stunning everyone as soon as she turned the corner.
06:11She crafted a gorgeous fringe dress,
06:14and it was so seamless that it looked like regular fabric
06:16instead of rainbow licorice.
06:18I'm starting back at square one.
06:20I'm going with this licorice.
06:22It looks like spaghetti.
06:23This licorice is so thin,
06:25but I'm putting on there one at a time.
06:28It molded to the contours of her body perfectly,
06:31adding to the gorgeous visual effect.
06:32Even though she just narrowly avoided the win that week,
06:35it was still a sheer feat in design.
06:38Nobody could deny this look.
06:40This challenge is about sewing and creating.
06:42Oh, my balls.
06:44These bitches don't know how to sew.
06:46This is my element of drag.
06:48Number four, Raja's evening gown eleganza.
06:52Ultimately, I have this idea of this 1930s sort of starlet,
06:56and she is going on a train to the Hearst Castle
06:59to meet up with all of her fancy buddies,
07:02and I think it looks fantastic.
07:03She's the resident style icon,
07:05and for good reason.
07:06Whether she has the garment provided to her or makes it herself,
07:10Raja has proven without a doubt that she has an eye for fashion.
07:13This was seen several times over,
07:16notably during the Moneyball episode.
07:18It was far from the season's first design challenge,
07:20but she didn't let that stop her.
07:21When you walk out, you act as if you own the stage,
07:26and I want to focus on you because you give me,
07:30you demand that attention from me.
07:32She took paper money,
07:33turning the scraps into a brightly colored and extravagant gown.
07:37Amazingly, it looked expensive and opulent beneath the stage lights.
07:41This wasn't the end of Raja's impressive fashion displays either.
07:45Who could forget her golden all-stars look celebrating Myanmar?
07:48I look great!
07:50It is gold on gold on gold on gold,
07:53golden goddess.
07:54She obviously is Miss Universe representing Myanmar.
07:57Number three, Violet Chachki's Hello Kitty eleganza.
08:01Yes, she must have liked it because she put a ring on it.
08:06I'm giving you a 60s Harajuku Barbarella space cadet.
08:10There's a lot happening, but it looks very chic.
08:13This was by far one of the franchise's most unique design challenges,
08:16and one queen in particular did not disappoint.
08:19Known for their penchant for style,
08:21Violet Chachki had already cemented herself as the runway queen of the season.
08:25This is what I do.
08:26I'm all about having concepts and having them executed flawlessly.
08:30She further proved her chops towards the end of the competition
08:33with this Hello Kitty-inspired ensemble.
08:35I love this look.
08:36I'm having waist envy.
08:38It reminds me of Barbarella.
08:41It's beautiful.
08:42It immediately stood out for its interesting silhouette and campy elements,
08:46especially the steering wheel framing the face.
08:48The various embellishments may have seemed ridiculous in the hands of a different queen.
08:52She has a great eye for proportion.
08:55Violet's a creative powerhouse.
08:57That kid has a million silhouettes in her head,
09:00and she's brought it to us every time.
09:03But Violet instead appeared as though she had just left the runway at Fashion Week.
09:08Number two.
09:09Nymphia Wynn's Call Me Mother Father Eleganza.
09:12Oh my gosh.
09:14Nymphia can't come to the phone.
09:16She's a little tied up right now.
09:18This look may be more recent,
09:20but it's already risen to the top of the ranks in the minds of countless fans.
09:24For season 16's Ball,
09:25the queens had to blend both masculine and feminine aspects in their garments.
09:29So, Nymphia, you've got a lot of ties around your neck.
09:32I'm maybe gonna deconstruct them and then make them into one piece of fabric
09:36and do something with it.
09:37Nymphia Wynn may have acted a little chaotically
09:40during the creative process in the workroom,
09:42but that quickly proved to be a red herring.
09:44Not only did she make an impressive ensemble from top to bottom,
09:48she also embellished it with several neckties that had been reshaped.
09:51It all came together to create a textured and complex piece that was so impressive,
09:56nobody could deny her the victory.
09:58This is just, I mean, otherworldly.
10:01The crowning glory are all these silk ties that you've made,
10:05three-dimensional, like they're blowing in the wind.
10:07So fun, so chic, so drag.
10:09Before we unveil our top pick,
10:11here are some honorable mentions.
10:13Gigi Goode's Balls to the Wall Eleganza.
10:16The perfect blend of whimsy, camp, and glamour.
10:19I'm so proud of what I came up with.
10:22It has a cute little box pleated skirt,
10:24puffy little pirate sleeves,
10:26and yes, bitch, there's a zipper.
10:28No one else in this challenge has made a look as elaborate as mine.
10:32Scarlett Envy's Blue Ball Bonanza.
10:34Her sapphire gown was the very definition of opulence.
10:38We are glamour.
10:40I feel wealthy, I feel shapely,
10:45and I am dripping in blue.
10:48She just blew me a kiss.

11:06Number one, Utica Queen's Bag Ball Eleganza.
11:09What's your sleep number, Michelle?
11:11Nine. I like it hard.
11:14I am so campy.
11:16I'm walking down the runway in this sleeping bag couture.
11:20When the queens of season 13 were assigned the arduous task
11:23of creating garments out of bags,
11:25no one could have expected the results from one queen in particular.
11:28Granted, Gottmik's edgy pieces ultimately won the challenge,
11:32but it was Utica Queen's gorgeous sleeping bag eleganza
11:35that won over the audience.
11:36Using only the time in the workroom,
11:38she crafted a seamless look,
11:40complete with cape and hood.
11:42Is that a sleeping bag?
11:43It's a sleeping bag.
11:44I'm really excited.
11:45I think it's gonna be cool.
11:46Okay.
11:47It's gonna be a bunch of these different panels and gores,
11:49and I want it to be as full and as just delightful as possible.
11:53It was hard to believe that something so perfect
11:56had started out as a mere sleeping bag.
11:58In one episode, Utica went from being seen
12:00as one of the pork chop queens to a potential winner.
12:03Sleeping bags are not an easy medium to work with,
12:07and you've made it look flattering.
12:10The cowl neck with the zipper,
12:12it's just all so enticing.
12:15Which design look were you most blown away by?
12:18Let us know in the comments below.
12:19I'm the winner,
12:20and I feel like it was well goddamn deserved.
