00:00So, you know, the Pravasi Bharatiya Samana Awards, which is awarded every alternate year
00:11by the government of India to non-resident Indians, Indians of, you know, citizens of
00:18Indian origin, is a big honor for Indians who are living abroad.
00:29It is, this year it is around 27 awardees, and they come from a very diverse set of fields,
00:34all the way from technology, business, art, music, culture, and a variety of professions.
00:43It is a call for all the awardees to stay connected to the roots as much as you want
00:50to exceed on a global stage.
00:55Indians abroad, roughly 35 million of them today, have been very accomplished and have
01:02done significantly well.
01:04So it's a unique opportunity for Indians abroad to contribute to the growth story of India.
01:10In the last 10 to 15 years, India's role on a global stage, both economically and geopolitically,
01:19has been very strong.
01:21So Indians abroad can actually contribute significantly to that story in a diverse set
01:27of fields.
01:28And that's why this is a very, very exciting opportunity for Indians who live abroad, but
01:33they have their roots in India.
01:34I mean, you know, Vixit Bharat, if you look at it, the theme of this year's conference
01:48is about how the diaspora can play a role in Vixit Bharat.
01:52Vixit Bharat is about making India a developed nation by 2047, which is 100 years of India's
02:00independence.
02:02Indians abroad have been significantly accomplished.
02:05So the ability to stay connected, the ability to contribute back and create a bridge between
02:11the world and India is what Indians can do.
02:14So these awards are in some ways a motivation for all the 35 million Indians who live abroad
02:22to make a difference to the country, make a difference to the world, make a difference
02:26to the country where they live today, and bring the synergies of the world to India
02:31and bring India to the world.
02:32A developed nation means higher per capita income for citizens.
02:51It means more shared prosperity.
02:53It means economic growth.
02:56And all of those are what Vixit Bharat is looking for.
03:00In fact, if you look at one of the sections of the Vixit Bharat vision is about Puruvodhya,
03:07where Odisha belongs to, and to make eastern India one of the most flourished parts of
03:16India.
03:17So it's a huge endorsement to the developmental agenda for the state of Odisha, which is today
03:26a leader in mining, minerals, power, and Bhubaneswar, which is actually becoming now
03:35a knowledge hub, a knowledge hub for technology and education.
03:41So this is certainly the journey for India for the next few years, as much as it has
03:48been for the last few years.
