00:39engagements of the 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas Convention in partnership with the state
00:45government of Odisha.

00:58The three-day 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas Convention, as you know, started on 8th January
01:05and continued till today, that is the 10th of January.
01:09The theme for the PBD 2025 was diaspora's contribution to a vixit Bharat.
01:17It is customary to hold the youth PBD on the first day of every Pravasi Bharatiya Divas
01:24Convention.
01:27Continuing with this tradition, the youth PBD was held on the first day, that is on
01:338th of January.
01:35The opening session of this event was addressed by the Honorable Chief Minister of Odisha,
01:40Sri Mohan Charan Maji Sir, Honorable External Affairs Minister, Dr. S. Jai Shankar, Honorable
01:46Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Dr. Mansukh Mandviaji, Honorable MOS for External
01:52Affairs, Sri Pavitra Margarita, Honorable MOS for Youth Affairs and Sports, Ms. Raksha
01:58Nikhil Khadse, and guest of honor of the 18th PBD, Dr. Dev Pragad, who is the CEO of Newsweek.
02:09The leaders spoke about the vital role and important contribution that the younger generation
02:14can make in the building of a vixit Bharat and India's global image.
02:21The first plenary session on the theme, Beyond Borders, Diaspora Youth Leadership in a Globalized
02:28World, was held thereafter, which was chaired by the Honorable Minister of Youth Affairs
02:34and Sports, Dr. Mansukh Mandviaji, and moderated by Sri Bini Bansal, the co-founder of Flipkart.
02:42The session focused on the transformative role of the diaspora youth in shaping a globalized
02:48world through leadership, innovation, and cultural diplomacy.
02:54The discussion highlighted the importance of India's diaspora youth as connectors between
02:59India and the global community.
03:03The Honorable Chief Minister of Orissa and the Honorable External Affairs Minister parallelly
03:08chaired a Prabhasi Bharatiya Business Leaders' Meeting, which was addressed by both the leaders.
03:16The External Affairs Minister underlined the Government of India's steadfast commitment
03:22to Mission Purvodaya and the role of Orissa to its success.
03:27He highlighted Orissa's potential in the three T's – trade, technology, and tourism – which
03:36makes it an excellent investment destination.
03:40The Honorable Chief Minister of Orissa spoke about what the state can offer to investors
03:45and businesspersons, such as a stable government, good law and order condition, infrastructure,
03:51skilled manpower, a friendly industrial policy, natural resources, etc.
03:58The State Government of Orissa made presentations on the investment opportunities available
04:03in the state.
04:06On the afternoon of the 8th January, the State Government of Orissa hosted two plenary sessions.
04:13The first one was titled, Unraveling India's Best-Kept Secret, and the second one was titled,
04:20Orissa, a Land of Opportunities.
04:24These two sessions showcased the enormous potential that could be utilized by the Indian
04:30diaspora in Orissa through their engagements in developing and promoting trade, tourism,
04:38and investments in different sectors.
04:40Some suggestions from the discussions for further development of Orissa included leveraging
04:45diaspora for talent, ideas, and as role models.
04:50It was also highlighted that Orissa is a success story in India's overall growth trajectory
04:56where labor force participation of women is much higher than that of men.
