Taiwan's coast guard has accepted delivery of a new 600-ton offshore patrol ship, part of efforts to ramp up its maritime capabilities in the face of increased pressure from Beijing. Premier Cho Jung-tai attended a ceremony for the delivery and the launch of two new patrol vessels in southern Taiwan.
