Climate activists from the Dutch branch of Extinction Rebellion blocked traffic at a major entry and exit point to the city of The Hague.

00:00Several climate activists from Extinction Rebellion were arrested after they blocked a part of a major highway in The Hague on Saturday.
00:09Authorities had banned the protest and police erected screens to try to stop protesters reaching the road on foot.
00:16However, several hundred demonstrators managed to reach the highway.
00:20The police used water cannons to force an end to the blockade.
00:24In recent years, this section of the A12 highway has been regularly blocked by Extinction Rebellion.
00:30It's a long-term protest.
00:34You have to keep going, keep going, keep going to get the fossil subsidies abolished.
00:42You see the fires in Los Angeles.
00:45It's wrong everywhere.
00:47And we have to react much, much faster to the climate crisis.
00:51Some fossil subsidies had previously been abolished, but the new Dutch government is planning to reintroduce them.
