00:00North Yorkshire Police's Chief Constable Tim Forber has paid tribute to a police
00:05officer who was killed in a crash on the A19 on Saturday. It also tragically took
00:12the life of a man she had stopped to help. At around 8.55am on January 11th
00:19PC Rosie Pryor, a response officer based in York, was hit by a HEV on the A19 at
00:27Bagby near Thirsk, after she had pulled over to help other motorists who had
00:32also been in an earlier separate crash between a black Ford Focus and a silver
00:38Audi car. As PC Pryor, the driver and passengers from the silver Audi were
00:44stood on the verge of the road, an approaching HEV lorry hit them. PC Pryor
00:50and the driver of the Audi, 41 year old Ryan Welford from Knaresborough, died at
00:56the scene. A teenage boy from the Audi vehicle is in a serious but stable
01:01condition in hospital. The driver of the HEV, a 65 year old man from Berwick-upon-Tweed
01:08has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He
01:13has been released under investigation, police said. Chief Constable Tim Forber
01:19said it is with profound sadness to confirm the death of PC Rosie Pryor on
01:24Saturday morning, who was tragically killed while helping at the scene of a
01:29separate collision on the A19 near Bagby.
