01:13what diplomatic strategies should Bangladesh adopt to address border
01:18tensions while maintaining cordial relations with India I think the answer
01:25is in your words we have to maintain cordial relations if we want to
01:31maintain cordial relations then we must talk with each other we cannot be making
01:36policies by crossing each other's signals we must engage and we must
01:42diffuse Bangladesh and India cannot afford to have hostile relations with
01:48each other how has the leadership change in Bangladesh impacted relations with
01:55India particularly in trade water sharing and security well a lot of
02:02emotions are in the play in both sides in the media and social media but my
02:08impression is that the governments of both the countries want to maintain
02:13continue maintaining cordial relations with each other and I think the official
02:18signals is what we should give importance to because the social media
02:24and will feed a lot of news and fake news which vitiates the atmosphere that
02:32is not in the interest of either Bangladesh or India do you anticipate
02:38shift in India's approach towards Bangladesh under the new government
02:42listen both countries every country's foreign relations is based on its
02:49perceptions of his own national interest we have our national interest
02:56and they have the national interest the friendship between two countries
03:02decided by their ability to address each other's national interest in an
03:08amicable manner so that the national interests of both countries come and
03:13meet at a point where there is an equilibrium when there's an equilibrium
03:18you call that friendship if the equilibrium shifts then there will be
03:22turbulences in the relationship so what changes could arise in maintaining
03:28strong ties with India after Sheikh Hasina's tenure there has been a regime
03:34change in Bangladesh and it is undeniable that India has permitted
03:40Sheikh Hasina to stay in India now we have to address each other's mutual
03:47concerns keeping that factor on the side and not make it central because by
03:56doing so we are likely to obfuscate other issues which are of vital
04:04importance to us that is maintenance of harmony along the borders continuation
04:11and expansion of trade as well as connectivity with with the our neighbors
04:18to our east the larger question of cooperation will become under stress for
04:27both countries proceeding on the road to regional cooperation is essential to
04:37reach the goal of self-sufficiency self-development and autonomy in
04:45development towards higher growths of growths of income how might regional
04:53cooperation in South Asia evolve following the leadership change in
04:58Bangladesh
