00:00In the news overseas, over the weekend as firefighters exhausted L.A. residents and
00:05fire victims got a breather from the dangerous Santa Ana winds, weather forecasts though
00:10warned Angelinos of the Santa Ana winds picking up early this week to fan the ongoing blazes
00:16into raging and even more apocalyptic scenarios.
00:19The short-lived intermission allowed for responders, rescuers and household residents locked out
00:25of their homes for days to return and survey the damage and check for missing family or
00:29friends still unaccounted for since evacuation began.
00:34As such, the casualty count since the fires began and had stood at 16 entering the week
00:39climbed to 24 with recovery efforts still far from over.
00:45All these deaths have been documented only in the Pacific Palisades and Eaton fires where
00:49all the fatalities have sadly obtained with 8 and 16 respectively.
00:55Message damage assessment has been ongoing each day.
00:58The size of the burned area in the Pacific Palisades has reached over 23.7 thousand acres
01:04with the Eaton fire ravaging more than 14.1 thousand acres.
01:09Their combined size equal to the area of San Francisco City.
01:14What's even sadder or scarier is the containment has been 13 percent and 27 percent respectively
01:20thus far.
