00:00The Department of Migrant Workers and the Department of Trade and Industry signed an agreement to help OFWs and their families build sustainable businesses offering training, financial support, and promoting local products.

00:14DMW will identify beneficiaries while DTI provides investment options to boost the MSME sector.

00:26It was 2016 when Keisel from Nueva Ecija started her business.

00:31She was an overseas Filipino worker in Qatar as a secretary in a government office.

00:36Some of her products are chocolate, mushroom chips, and banana chips, all of which are home and handmade.

00:43Her husband is her business partner.

00:45And just last year, she joined the Bi-Local, Bi-OFWs project that is part of the Kabuhayan Reintegration Program of the Department of Trade and Industry and the Department of Migrant Workers.

00:56We decided to start a business so that when we for good, we can do what we need to do while we are here in the Philippines.

01:04While having a business, at the same time, we can help not just for the community, but also our fellow OFWs and local farmers.

01:13She loaned P4 million from the DTI, which she used for expansion, marketing, and other expenses in her factory investment farm in Davao.

01:22Now, she has 50 employees.

01:25She also has products for export to a number of countries.

01:28Sales have increased and the products are better known.

01:31We are getting orders not just here but also around the Philippines.

01:37Keisel is only one of those beneficiaries of the Bi-Local, Bi-OFWs project who attended the MOA signing of the DMW and DTI.

01:46It will provide support to the livelihood and products of the OFWs.

01:50It also seeks to promote local products, businesses, and services.

01:55We have to make sure that no matter what, their money is put into good use so when they come home, they will have something to give back and their families will have something to rely on.

02:05The agreement also includes the provision of training and seminars to the beneficiaries, strengthening of micro, small, and medium enterprises or MSMEs,

02:14promoting different investment options such as franchising that can help a lot for MSMEs or budding entrepreneurs.

02:22It will extend financial assistance through government financial institutions and private sector partners.

02:28Through this product, our OFWs will have greater opportunities to empower themselves economically and socially upon their return to the Philippines.

02:38Such agreement is a work product or result of DMW's collaboration with various government agencies that deliver full-cycle and comprehensive reintegration assistance to our OFWs and their families.
