An unemployed man has been fined a total of RM5,000 by the Magistrate's Court in Melaka after pleading guilty to two charges of vandalising a police station and his ex-girlfriend's car.
Muhammad Hidayat Burhan, 25, entered his guilty plea after the two charges were read to him before Magistrate Nur Afiqah Radhiah Zainurin on Wednesday (Jan 15).

00:1325-year-old Muhammad Hidayat Burhan entered his guilty plea after the two charges were

00:23The court also ordered the accused to serve eight months in prison if he failed to pay
00:28the fine.
00:29For the first charge, he was accused of vandalism by throwing a hammer at the Tanjung Keling
00:34police station and shattering one of its glass panels, resulting in damage estimated at 2,000
00:41ringgit.
00:42The offence was committed at 10.10pm on January 7.
00:46For the second charge, he was accused of vandalism by smashing the window of a car at a house
00:51in Batu Tuju, Tanjung Minyak at 10.30pm on January 8.
00:56It is understood that the accused was unhappy because his ex-girlfriend had just married
01:01another man.
01:02Muhammad Hidayat was prosecuted under Section 427 of the Penal Code for both charges, which
01:09carries a jail sentence of one to five years, or a fine or both upon conviction.
01:15The court ordered the accused to pay a fine of 2,500 ringgit for each charge.
01:20He later paid the fines.
