Millions of Southern Californian residents continue to face dire new wildfire warnings and power outages after fires fanned by harsh winds caused widespread destruction.

00:00Authorities in the United States say they have begun recovery efforts after fires that
00:04have been burning homes and businesses in California.
00:08At least 25 people have been killed and thousands displaced from the fires, which have left
00:14more than 12,000 buildings destroyed.
00:17Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass has cautioned residents that the emergency isn't over yet.
00:24But while we're going through what I hope is the final hours of this emergency, it's
00:31also time to begin to talk about our recovery.
00:35Meanwhile, Southern California residents continue to face dire new wildfire warnings and power
00:42shutoffs as fire-fueling winds blasted across the scarred landscape.
00:47Much of the area was under an elevated fire risk on Tuesday.
00:52Officials have said the wildfires, which started on January 7, might be the most expensive
00:58set of conflagrations in U.S. history.
