Aldi has released some mini eggs that are dupes of famous products - here's my review
Transcript
00:00Today I wanted to talk to you about these mini eggs for Easter. Now they're from Aldi
00:13and I've seen them quite a few times on social media. They're from Dairy Fine, there we go,
00:20that's their chocolate brand at Aldi. They're £1.99 each and quite obviously this is meant
00:29to be jaffa cake flavoured. The caramelised biscuit has got to be lotus biscuit, we've
00:37got all that branding and that colouring. And Natoka, quite clearly that's meant to
00:43be Nutella. So yeah, I've gone and bought all three of them for £5.98 for three, there's
00:50no special deal, that's just what it comes to. And you can see that they've been open
00:56because I let my son have a go and I'll share what he thought, he's seven years old. But
01:03from an adult's perspective, I'll let you know whether they're worth buying. So this
01:06is what the inside of the Natoka, aka Nutella one looks like. As you can see, it's milk
01:17chocolate, they're quite small, they are probably a bit bigger than a mini egg. And inside it's
01:22like a truffle consistency. So I'm going to taste that now and let you know. Okay,
01:26so the verdict on this one, short and sweet, actually really quite nice. Tastes just like
01:32Nutella, quite sickly, so you wouldn't want too many of them. So now we're going to move
01:37on to the jaffa cake version. Now this is dark chocolate and if you can see, it's not
01:44got any cakiness in it, but then again, it doesn't promise to. But it's got a slightly
01:50runnier centre from the look of it. So let's see what this one tastes like. I think that's
01:57quite nice, but it needs more filling. There's too much chocolate and not enough filling
02:03in that. But other than that, it's quite nice. If you like your dark chocolate, you might
02:10like that one. Bear it in mind, just need some more filling please, Mr. Aldi. This is
02:15the last one, clearly the Biscoff inspired egg. Now this one, I've got to say, was my
02:22seven-year-old son's favourite. I don't know whether you can see the colour, but it's kind
02:26of like an off-white colour with speckles. To me, that looks quite unappealing, but I
02:33do like a lotus biscuit, so let's find out. Well, I'm sorry to say that my child is wrong
02:37on this one. It's hard on the inside, gritty, and to me, that just tastes of cinnamon. Too
02:46sweet, cinnamon flavoured, not really a lotus biscuit. So that one's a disappointment, that
02:53one. Caramel biscuit one. No, that's a bit of a fail, sorry. But the other two are quite nice.
