00:00proud parents, and everyone present here,
00:06I extend my very warm greetings
00:12on this auspicious occasion,
00:14the 11th Convocation Ceremony,
00:17to all those who have got degrees
00:19in presence and in absentia.
00:25We have today, friends, Army Day.
00:31I take this opportunity to reflect
00:38that it is time for us to honor
00:40the unwavering courage and sacrifices
00:44of our soldiers who have safeguarded our nation's freedom.
01:00We are veterans of patriotism and selfless service,
01:04and our veterans are our precious, priceless human resource.
01:11We need to accord our highest regard to our veterans
01:16as they are moral spine of our serving forces.
01:23Friends, I seek to avail the occasion
01:27to pay my respects to Guru Ghasidas,
01:31whose name in one sense is immortalized
01:34through this institution.
01:36Guru Ghasidas embodied the spirit of unity,
01:41inclusivity, and equality among all.
01:46It is due to gurus like him,
01:48the social, cultural character of this belt
01:51has remained unaltered.
01:54He is a true national icon in our rich cultural tradition.
02:01Friends, our Bharat, home to one-sixth of humanity,
02:06is blessed to have a galaxy of national heroes like him.
02:12We have icons in Maharishi Valmiki,
02:16Bhagwan Birsa Munda, Sant Ravidas,
02:19Jyotiba Phule, to name just a few.
02:23Each of them stands as a tall pillar
02:27upon which the society's edifice stands.
02:32Friends, these illustrious gurus are our authentic icons,
02:38a source of inspiration and motivation for us all.
02:45We need to practice their teachings.
02:48That will be wholesome for the entire society
02:51and us as well.
02:53Their contributions to the nation's social,
02:55cultural fabric remained for too long a period,
03:01not well appreciated, underappreciated.
03:04However, a big change came in Amrit Kaal.
03:08In mission mode, an effort has been made,
03:11and very successfully, to remember these iconic figures.
03:16Some of them remained unsung.
03:20Some of them remained not well-sought-in.
03:23But now, we are availing every opportunity
03:27to recognize their contributions to our culture,
03:31and also to our journey for freedom.
03:36It is soothing that their position
03:38in the nation's collective consciousness
03:41is now being recognized, rekindled, and reclaimed.
03:46Friends, it is concerning that the wholesome
03:50thought processes of inclusivity,
03:54for which they stood, for which they lived,
03:58which they propagated, is so to be challenged by some
04:03who seek to disrupt organic societal stability
04:07by offering allurements to effect conversions.
04:12This is repulsive of grain of our civilization ethos.
04:19This is antithetical to our constitutional essence
04:23and spirit.
04:25It wrongly tempers the valuable right of freedom
04:29which we enjoy.
04:30Nothing can be more serious, friends,
04:33than that these misadventures emanate
04:37from an evolved strategy to upset
04:42organic demographic equilibrium.
04:45We need to rebuff, resist, neutralize
04:49these nefarious designs, as these have pernicious potential
04:54to emerge as existential challenge
04:57to our inclusiveness and civilization.
