00:00In the Philippines, cyberbullying is a serious issue that affects many youths.
00:07According to the Department of Education, there are 178 cases of cyberbullying in the country
00:14from November 2022 to January 2024, and 27 of these are cases of cyberbullying in students.
00:24It is important to remember that not all victims of cyberbullying speak up.
00:29Only a small percentage have the courage to report these incidents.
00:35It is also not limited to children because anyone can be a victim of it.
00:41Cyberbullying can have serious effects on the mental health of victims
00:47including depression, anxiety, and loss of self-confidence.
00:52That's why it should end.
00:56Let's find out more details about cyberbullying
00:59and the possible consequences of doing it here at MIL-101.
01:09RISKY FRIENDS!
01:10Did you know that cyberbullying is not only personal?
01:14It can also happen on online platforms.
01:16And of course, we need to know more details about cyberbullying that we should remember.
01:23First, what is cyberbullying?
01:26Cyberbullying is a form of cyberbullying using technology.
01:30It often happens on online platforms like Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Instagram
01:37where victims are often bashed, bullied, or hacked online.
01:43Let's give some examples of cyberbullying.
01:46For example, it is a form of bullying.
01:48It is a form of posting false information about a person
01:52such as a student saying that he failed his exam.
01:56Even if it is not true, it can also spread gossip and issues about a person.
02:04There are a lot of things like that.
02:06Let's change that.
02:07Next is online harassment.
02:10This is a form of repeatedly sending painful messages to a messenger or through direct message.
02:17It can also be used to blackmail a person, repeat it, or stalk.
02:24But let's look at the third example, exclusion.
02:28A person is not invited to a group chat of a class or event
02:33or if not, they are not included in a conversation that should be counted.
02:39The fourth example is doxxing.
02:43It is a form of changing an address, phone number, or personal information of an online user without permission.
02:51It is like violating the Data Privacy Act of 2012 or RA10173.
02:57It is a form of threatening a person's safety.
03:01And the last example is catfishing.
03:05It is a form of using a pecking profile to pretend to be a victim.
03:10It is a form of doing bad things to ruin the reputation of a real person.
03:20It is important to know the different examples of cyberbullying where it happens and many people experience it.
03:28We want to know what is the punishment of cyberbullying.
03:33According to Republic Act 10175 or Cyber Crime Prevention Act of 2012,
03:39cyberbullying is considered a libel or unjust vexation.
03:44A libel or unjust vexation can be a fine or imprisonment depending on the permission.
03:52Especially if it is a libel, it has different elements.
03:55It can be the imputation of the person telling you that you are this or that.
04:00Either the complainant has to prove that it is not true,
04:05or the accused has to prove that it is true and he was not violated or in good faith.
04:10Or it can be the publication itself.
04:14If it was violated, the reputation of the person who violated it can be grounds for libel.
04:21We have imputation, we have publication, the words used, and others.
04:29Those are the four elements.
04:31We need to remember that everyone has the right to be safe online.
04:37If you are a victim of cyberbullying, don't be afraid to report to the right agencies or authorities.
04:45Let's fight cyberbullying together for a better and more responsible digital community.
04:52That's all for our discussion on MIL-101.
