00:00Let's start with our perspective.
00:07Well, the last two years have been quite important for your career, right?
00:12Because first you had a nomination for Best Rap-Hip-Hop Song at the Latin Grammy, which is super, super big.
00:23And in addition to that, you had a nomination as a new female artist at Premios Lo Nuestro 2024.
00:31How have these awards shaped your vision for the future of your career?
00:36And how do you handle that pressure of being a rising star in this world of music?
00:44The truth is that they always ask me that question and it's like the same answer.
00:48I live like normal, you know?
00:50It's like, okay, I'm an artist, I'm running a professional career,
00:55I work with people from the industry who are important and that,
00:59but I'm always the same, you know?
01:02Okay, I go around the world, but when I get here, it's like, that's it, that's it, you know?
01:07So, as for my work, I'm already a super hyperactive person.
01:14I'm like this, I have to shut up.
01:17Well, if I'm hungry, I shut up by myself, but I'm super active, I keep my team joking and I don't know what.
01:25Because I understand that if there is a group of people who are there for me and are working with me,
01:30if my energy goes down, everyone around me too, I'm going to contaminate them with my low energy, you know?
01:36So, whenever I try to be active, to be heavy with my work team, with the people I know.
01:41Look, whenever you're doing a promo, and on those days near the awards,
01:49you know that the week before, when there are awards, you do a lot of promos,
01:52and here and there, and you meet a lot of the same people.
01:55For example, that's one of my hardest things, because I have to greet 800 people.
01:59And I don't like to hug, you know?
02:02If it were up to me, I would greet you and say, give me your hand.
02:04I don't like to hug because I don't like it, you know?
02:07I don't say it because I have some indifference with people, but in my life in general.
02:10Sometimes my mom says to me, how old are you that you don't hug me?
02:13And it's because it's normal for me, I'm not like, let's hug, you know?
02:17And it's like, it's something that I've always been like, wow, it's true that you have to greet so many people,
02:23hug them with the same affection, you see them 30 times and you greet them 30 times with the same affection.
02:28So, I think it's one of the things that was a little more complicated, I learned how to handle it.
02:34But after, everything else, super good.
02:37And well, your music, something that I think is very important about your music is that it resonates deeply,
02:46not only with the R&D community, but beyond, right?
02:50To the Latin community.
02:52How do you see that your art is a bridge, both to connect your roots and elevate your audience,
02:58and also how to connect with especially young women and hip hop and rap, how to give them that place?
03:07Well, I really think that, look, the first thing is that I come from a neighborhood,
03:14where in the neighborhood there are young people, people with a desire for improvement,
03:19and people looking for someone to advise them, to do things well, you know?
03:23So I think that those three ingredients make my music reach that audience specifically,
03:32and that those people hook up super well with me.
03:35Because, look, including your country, Cuba, Colombia, Venezuela, Dominican Republic,
03:43they are Latin countries where what I sing happens daily, and those things are always happening.
03:51So, I think that what makes the young audience and people, the general public, connect with me,
03:58are the truths that are in my songs.
04:02What message do you want to send to the next generation of artists,
04:05particularly those from the Dominican Republic or other communities that are underrepresented?
04:13Well, the first thing is perseverance and insistence.
04:18I think that insistence is super important.
04:21Because sometimes, look, I can give a clear example.
04:25I did a show here in Santo Domingo, where before they invited me, I made the approach,
04:30so that they would take me to open the show.
04:32It was a concert where Juan Luis Guerra, Sting, Juane, Resident were singing,
04:36and I wanted to open the show, and they denied me the opportunity.
04:39And it just so happens that the person who denied me the opportunity went to see my show,
04:45a show that I did there in Santo Domingo,
04:48and he himself just said, hey, I want her to open the show, you know?
04:52So I think that persistence and that people see you, that you show yourself to the public,
04:57I think that discipline is super important, above all.
05:00And before thinking about helping others, be well yourself.
05:04We are going to move on to the rapid fire part, ok?
05:08So you are going to ask a few questions, I think there will be about six questions,
05:13but super fast, as well as fun.
05:16What comes to mind, you answer it.
05:19Ok, let's start.
05:21Academy sign?
05:24Libra.
05:25Favorite food?
05:28Pasta, but my people, I'm going to last all these months without eating pasta, I need to lose weight.
05:33Favorite place?
05:37My bed and the beach.
05:39Dog or cat?
05:42I'm afraid of both.
05:44Are you afraid? Really?
05:46Of both.
05:47Well, any other animal you like?
05:51The truth is that I would like a dog, but it is to lose the fear, not because I like it or because I want it,
05:56but because I want to lose the fear.
05:58I'm afraid of all animals.
06:01Even in the neighborhood, once a chicken fell on me,
06:04and I walk the whole neighborhood running and the chicken running after me.
06:07I'm afraid of being an animal to everyone.
06:10Well, favorite word?
06:16That mime, oh my mother.
06:19If you wanted to collaborate, what would it be?
06:26Calle 13, Residente, sorry.
06:28I love it. And a song that you can't get out of your head right now?
06:33Oh, look, I have a lot that I can't get out of my head.
06:38Wow, Corazón Partido by Alejandro Sanz.
06:41I've always listened to it, but now I don't know, it's hurting me more.
06:46And I don't have Corazón Partido, but it's hurting me more.
