00:00Yeah, no, not good enough. Especially the first half. We were just way too passive.
00:09Allowed Arsenal to take control of the game.
00:13Yeah, just really disappointed with the way we, both with and without the ball,
00:19sort of allowed them to dictate the tempo and paid a price for it.
00:25Yeah, the second half was a little bit better, but now we're near good enough.
00:29Was that a change at times about trying to gain control?
00:32Yeah, well it wasn't about gaining control.
00:34Just having a sort of different, I said different intent in our football.
00:37It's just not who we are. It's not the way I set the team up.
00:40It's not the way we want to play.
00:42To be sitting in there and allowing Arsenal to play, like I said, to their tempo,
00:50just wasn't good enough.
00:52And reading what you said on TV, you said too many games getting away from you,
00:56it needs to stop. How do you go about stopping that?
00:59Well, you've got no choice. There's no magic cure here.
01:03You've got to get up tomorrow and work hard and go into Sunday
01:08and prepare to go into battle and turn around our fortunes in our season.
01:17There's nothing that's magical that's going to change this.
01:22There's always reasons for all these things to happen,
01:26but the reality of it is that our results and our form in the league
01:33has been nowhere near good enough, and that needs to change.
01:36Is it a bit like you're looking for excuses tonight?
01:38The first goal means score.
01:41Well, it did, it did.
01:43Look, I don't want to talk about referees,
01:45and I think I've got to take responsibility for my team.
01:48I'll let the referees take responsibility for theirs.
01:50It was in the corner, but it's how things are going for us at the moment.
01:55That aside, we weren't anywhere near the level we needed to be
01:58in that first half in such a big game,
02:01and we've got to understand that what we can control
02:07is the first thing we need to focus on.
02:11You spoke yesterday about the defence
02:13and that moment that let you down this season.
02:16I guess without a mind, how frustrating is that second goal,
02:18and what can you do with these lapses you've had?
02:21Well, like I said, I think that second goal
02:26was just endemic of the whole first half.
02:28Irrespective of everything else, like I said,
02:31we just didn't play anywhere near the identity I want us to be.
02:35We're an aggressive team with and without the ball.
02:37We showed that seven days ago against Liverpool,
02:40and tonight, especially in that first 45,
02:43we were way too passive, and that's not acceptable.
02:49When you do that, then these kind of things creep in.
02:52It was a disappointing second goal to concede as well,
02:55but it's not like we were playing anywhere near the level we needed to.
03:00Like I said, the second half was a little bit better,
03:03and we certainly caused some more problems with and without the ball,
03:06but it wasn't enough.
03:09It's difficult to take no positives from Dalvish,
03:11but two 18-year-olds tonight, can you take anything from their performance?
03:14I hope not. I want them disappointed.
03:18This can't be accepted by anyone at the club.
03:21Us losing so many games in a league season is not right.
03:25I know we're going through a tough trot,
03:27and yes, we are asking for big jobs,
03:29but I hope they're hurting the 18-year-olds as much as anyone else
03:34in terms of us not being able to deliver on a big day, big night.
03:40Okay, thank you.
03:41Thanks.
