“Harlem Ice” is a five-part documentary series following the coaches and girls of Figure Skating in Harlem as they prepare for competitions, performances, and a life-changing global experience. Through their eyes, we experience the highs and lows of the Figure Skating in Harlem organization’s season and the unique experiences they have as girls of color breaking the “ice ceiling” and gaining access to a global stage.

00:06They're going to see brown girls on the ice like they've never seen us before.
00:11The energy is crazy.
00:15The girls, they're competing, but then they'll go to our academic center.
00:20They couldn't actually work.
00:22We have so many eyes on us this season.

00:26And we're just at the beginning of all these culminating moments.

00:33When we're at competitions, we represent Harlem.
00:37That just made me want to go even more.
00:43Being on a team with people of color is very different.
00:46It's a lot of pressure.
00:50We're getting ready for their biggest competition.
00:52We're hard on you because I know that you guys can be great.

01:08Things can be overwhelming for these girls.
01:11But the sisterhood and friendship brings out the power.
01:15No one realizes how much work goes into being a figure skater.

01:29It's so heartbreaking that the season really is coming to an end.

01:36But we've grown and we've impacted other people.
