00:00Emergency crews were called to Military Road in Dover Heights around 4am this morning where
00:07they found a car alight and spray painted with an anti-semitic phrase.
00:13They also found the front of a property splashed in red paint.
00:17The New South Wales Premier Chris Mins has condemned this recent attack as a disgusting
00:22act of violence and says police will do everything in their power to hunt down those responsible.
00:28These are horrifying anti-semitic attacks, they're violent, I think they've shocked the
00:33people of New South Wales and Australia and honestly I never thought I would see this
00:38kind of naked racism and anti-semitism repeating itself on the streets of Sydney in such an
00:45organised horrifying manner.
00:47It is truly disgusting and against all of the ethos, all of the community sentiment
00:54about what living in Australia is all about and I know that these shameful, violent, appalling
01:02behaviour is condemned by the vast, vast majority of people that live in this state and live
01:07in this country.
01:08Now Premier Chris Mins confirmed that the former owner of that home is a prominent Jewish
01:13leader in Australia's community, Alex Ryachin, the Co-Chief of the Executive Council of Drury
01:20and that police are now actively investigating whether or not this was a targeted attack
01:26on a member of Australia's Jewish community and a prominent leader of Australia's Jewish
01:31community.
01:32Now counter-terrorism police are involved in this investigation, New South Wales police
01:35say they are throwing everything they can to try and hunt down those responsible and
01:40the Premier says this is just another example of what he says is a rising level of anti-semitism
01:45in New South Wales.
01:46We're still waiting to hear from Alex Ryachin who spoke personally to the Premier.
01:51The Premier says he is amazed by the resilience he has shown so far and that most of the Sydney
01:58community is thinking of him and his family at this difficult time.
